We stayed here on our way back to NZ from Dallas Tx. The room was small but still very nice. The location, free shuttle, very friendly staff, made this a very pleasant stay indeed. The pool and hot tubs were also great and the rooms were very quiet with little or no noise from nearby aircraft taking off and landing. The view of the airport runway was a bonus! I suppose the only complaint was the over priced food at the hotel restaurant ($16 for cereal!) and the rather cold and unfriendly staff at the brasserie downstairs. And must they serve that awful Starbucks coffee!!!

My husband and our two children decided to spend a Friday night at the hotel prior to flying out saturday morning. I booked the hotel on the Hilton website the same day we were to arrive (OI am a Hilton Hhonors Gold member). I paid for and received an e-mail from Hilton for the Concierge Level floor I had booked which included an ugraded room, and a private lounge for evening hors doeuvres and breakfast. (We have done this in the past and the kids love to watch the planes take off and land from the lounge while having evening cookies and morning breakfast). Upon arrival after waiting in the Hilton Hhonors line over 20 minutes(!) to check-in (the regular line moved faster) we were told the lounge was closed and had been for the past week. We were also told we couldn't stay on the Hilton Hhonors floor because "the floor was closed". We were given breakfast vouchers for the restaurant and no apology for missing any of the amenities we had paid for. Then we were given the keys to a small cramped room (I have stayed at this property over 10 times in the past and I have never received a room this small). We called back down and insited they open the Hhonors floor rooms and give us the room we paid for. They relented and gave us a standard room on the Honors floor which was deserted so at least it was quiet. The next day we had to go wait for a breakfast table and of course tip our waitress (I won't cheat employees working hard despite the hotels bait and switch). This was nothing short of fraud and we should have been given an apology from the management and our room should only have been charged at the standard rate (not the concierge rate at $40.00 more!) What a rip-off. Beware, the Hilton has been bought out by a private investment company called Blackstone and they are hell bent on ruining the Hilton name in pursuit of profits.

  • Liked — Proximity to airport
  • Disliked — Did not get what I paid for.

I stayed here on my return from an international flight. The hotel shuttle leaves from and to the airport every 15 minutes. The check in at the hotel was efficient and I got to my room that overlooked the runway in what seemed to be no time at all! My room was clean and had a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had all the amenities that one could want even though it was a little on the small side. In using the closet you did have to be very careful not to trip over the hidden door stop which happened to be right in front of door to the closet.
The hotel has a kiosk that enables you to check in for most airlines and print out boarding passes – that is a really nice benefit that the hotel provides.
I had dinner and breakfast at the café and the food was okay – but it was very expensive.
The service at both dinner and breakfast was really good. The wait staff were attentive and did a good job in filling up your water glass and refilling coffee cups – almost too good a job at breakfast as they kept clearing your place even if you were just going to the buffet to get more items!

  • Disliked — How expensive dining here was

We booked this hotel for a 24hr stopover on the way from the UK to Mexico. On arrival at LAX, we took the free airport shuttle to the Hilton, which took about 10 minutes. There was no queue at check in, and we were quickly given our keys for an upgrade to an executive room on the 17th floor.

The room was large and contained 2 very comfortable double beds. The furniture and decor were all spotless- no chips or scratches here. The bathroom was very big, spotlessly clean and contained a small selection of the usual complimentary toiletries. The most imposing feature of the room, however, was the large windows looking out over the runway. You can literally sit in bed and watch the planes taking off and landing in front of you! Unfortunately, that did mean some aircraft noise (those pesky DC10s and MD80s!) so if you are a light sleeper I would recommend a room at the back of the hotel.

Being jetlagged, we went straight to bed and woke at 5am. At 6am, we headed to the executive lounge on the 16th floor for complimentary breakfast (for executive rooms and HH golds only). Again, the room was spotlessly clean and had a great selection of breakfast: bagels and toast, muffins, pastries, cereals, hard boiled eggs, and fresh fruit.

Overall, I was very pleased with this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

  • Liked — The views, the bed, the breakfast.
  • Disliked — Aircraft noise, no free wi-fi.

I had a meeting here, otherwise I generally prefer other hotels. I have been in some Hiltons that were in need of some TLC. I was surprised by the comfort of the beds, the soft towels, the ease of a very late night check-in, and the cleanliness. No doubt the hotel manager cracks a loud whip!

The only complaint was the cost of the food in the restaurant.
