Went to UCLA for a conference with a fellow grad student (females 25 and 30). Had to find a place for around $120 because thats all our school reimburses but wanted to be close to campus and this fit the bill. Right off 405 on Santa Monica so convenient to get around. Hotel is just great! I love the setup, its like a triangle shape around a courtyard that serves breakfast (which is great and free!! crossaints, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, sausage, eggs, coffee, juice, etc). So all the doors of the rooms open up over the outside courtyard. It was quiet, no loud kids and the 405 didnt bother us although we were on the backside. The people that work there are just fantastic! We got there and they said someone canceled our reservation, which was an ordeal since we were using our school credit card but they made it all right. We had to call down to get a toothbrush and they delivered it a second later. The rooms are REALLY nice. All redone, comfy beds, nice bathrooms, nice furniture and decor. Very clean. The area around the neighborhood is a bit sketchy but we didnt have any problems. I think there must be a VA around because there were several older men walking around but none of them ever bothered us. Theres a 7-11 across the street, a liquor store on next block, and a really good japanese sushi place by the 7-11, looks kind of scary but it was GREAT! Theres also a cool little hookah lounge around the corner that was a good place to have a couple of drinks and relax at nite. Hotel was great location to get to UCLA, Beverly hills, hollywood, santa monica, and venice. And convenient to LAX. Parking is free and they have an underground garage. Good customer base. No views and no pool, so wouldnt stay if you are expecting that, but if you just need a great place to stay for a bit then this is your place!
