5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2011

Once again.., stayed at the beverly laurel and stayed in a huge room on the third floor with a separate kitchen with stove, fridge and charming vintage yet modern decor.. love this place.. so convenient to everything, and such a deal for the quality!
Thanks so much!

Stayed here while I was receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital (I know, I know, good times..). This motel surprised me with its funky 50s character, which is an added bonus for what's essentially budget accommodations in the middle of a very expensive city. It's in a walkable area and the cafe's great. The staff was professional yet laid back.

The only drawback was noise. With all the rooms located around a busy central courtyard, some of my nights were often interrupted by the clatter of heels and high pitched squeals from those having a better time than me. And who wants to hear that?

Overall, an EXCELLENT deal at a place with lots of old L.A. character.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. boking in VERY late (10pm) we got a room so we were happy( not for long). Until we walked through the lobby (shouldn't be called a lobby it was just an office with a inside plant) and overheard someone with a (what I think is a) prostitute asking for a room for only an hour . SEEDY SEEDY SEEDY! We walked into our room to find our "kitchen" with fridge wide open and everything pulled away from the wall. We were not going to use it anyway so it did not matter just a bit of a worry. It was a strange bathroom and a bit "phyco" like shower. the beds were quite surprisingly clean and free internet only worked from a stool put right on the door (quite humerous) and through the free internet we booked our next night in the beverly hilton (thank god!!)
It was quite a hilarious experience allover and the cafe/resturant below was quite good.

Luxurious it's not. Funky 50's-style decor. But it's located adjacent to Farmer's Market, The Grove, CBS Television City, Cantor's Delicatessen and a short walk to Melrose Avenue's trendy shops. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfy, and it's a good deal price-wise. The sole drawback is that all rooms face onto an echoey central courtyard, and more than once we've been awakened in the middle of the night by inconsiderate loud-talking patrons entering or leaving the restaurant downstairs.

This hotel is what I consider to be the best little secret in LA. LA is not cheap and when you compare hotels in this same price range, you will not find a better place. The rooms have been upgraded with Hollywood memorabilia, and the bathrooms are really nice. While others complained about the beds, I didn't notice anything uncomfortable and slept great. There is also Free Parking which is also rare for LA. There is a charge for the internet. Swingers Cafe is awesome !! You can get some great rates and AAA Discounts if you shop online through some of the hotel wholesaler sites.

Typical motel, a little old.
The room was spacious but noisy (lots of traffic on this street).
The location is very good.
And the best thing about this hotel is the Swinger's diner, one the best diner.
