very clean and great people as we got our rooms upgraded to an executive room with no additional charge as we only asked for view room, excellent service from bell boy to front desk till we left, kids just want to stay there.

We spent a few days at Hilton to go to Universal Studios with the kids. The 5 minute walk from the hotel to the Universal Studio entrance is perfect for this. However, the attitude of the reception staff left much to be desired at the price we paid. Not only did they seem disengaged bordering rude but they seemed to be having trouble working with eachother. We experienced long waiting times more than once as only 1 or 2 were manning the reception and even though that person tried to call for colleagues to come out and assist notning happened and he was left apologizing that no one came to assist us. Waiting 15 minutes for a check-out as number 1 in line is just uacceptable. Furthermore, our key cards somehow canceled themselves and getting new ones took time as the only person manning the reception spent 5 minutes putting paper in the printer rather than helping us even though we were the only ones in line waiting for assistance.

Would I stay there again? Not sure....the room was nice and the short walk to Universal was superb but I hate paying so much when an 80 USD/Night motel beats Hilton on all service parameters

This is a large hotel only 10 minutes walk from Universal Studios and 10 minutes by taxi from Warner Bros.The staff are very friendly and helpful - the concierges certainly know their stuff.
Rooms are large and comfortable, though the windows did not open. Fortunately, the air handling was quiet. The Cafe Sierra serves an excellent seafood buffet on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings and its meals on other nights were very good. The bar also serves tasty bites.
There is an outdoor pool with a bar and grill. The gardens are nice, with humming birds flitting about.
Smoking rooms are available at the moment, but there is a room next to the bar which is open to the sky and with tables, chairs and heaters where smoking is permitted. Other smoking areas are available outside, also with tables and chairs..

Hotel stay was excellent with a very accomodating staff. The location of the hotel is very ideal if planning on visiting the Universal Studios and City Walk. It is also very convenient to many points of interest in the Los Angeles area. I was here on a conference with my wife and would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

We stayed 5 nights. Great location. Room was nice, clean and modern. Good views of the LA suburbs. No problems with lifts. Buffet was good for dinner Friday & Saturday, breakfast so so.
Reception staff (men in cheap suits) were ok. LA did not really do it for us, the people seem
non involved, not so friendly as San Francisco.

We have stayed at this hotel March,21 through March, 25. The hotel is located near the Universal City that has nice City Walk area and next to the Universal Studios Hollywood Park. Location of this hotel is really nice: close to 101 Highway and next to the metro station. It provides good access to all LA landmarks and/or attractions, either by metro or car.
We had a great food selection and good quality food at the buffet ($48-$50 per person). It works only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
I believe that the hotel and rooms are a little bit outdated (at least our room) and probably need some cosmetic updates to it. Carpet needs good cleaning, wallpaper fixing. Our shower did not work properly at all. We stayed on Executive floor, which is on the high floor and had a great view.
We had a little bit hard time during the check-in with Jose at the desk. We had 2 reservations with 2 different room types: 1 is the regular for the first 2 nights and the second is on Executive floor for the last 2 nights). Since we have Gold status with Hilton, I have asked to be upgraded to the Executive floor for the first reservation, so I do not have to move during the stay. He claimed that all rooms are taken on Executive floor. When I told him that I just saw plenty of rooms available on the website, he changed and said that I can pay extra money to be moved to that room. Only with the help of a supervisor we were able to get to the upgraded room. Why one person Jose decides to upgrade Gold member or not, when rooms are available and provides bad experience to the customer?

Overall we had a good time staying at that hotel.

I've never stayed in a hotel where I drag my feet to check out.
I would say Cafe Sierra has impressed more than any other hotel restaurant in all of my years of layover and travel.
The buffet and service would be worth the trip in its self. The seafood buffet in top notch.
Fresh , beautiful, creative and abundant. Beyond, well thought out.
Hats off to the F&B director.
The rooms are very comfortable. Linens are plush and great quality.
The front desk was backed up as well as elevators due to a cheerleading convention.
They handled it extremely well. The staff is almost cult like...they follow a guest service protocol that no one seemed to break. Israel in the dining room...outstanding. All the wait staff just amazing.
Jose, Linda, all very accommodating.
Of course the location is great, City Walk....etc.
The hotel is incredible. Gym is small but efficient, the pool is clean and well appointed with plenty of towels.
Gift shop has everything and unique.
If you find something wrong with your stay, chances are you're having finding happiness anywhere you stay. Hilton Universal does to miss a step.
