We had a decent enough stay at the Hilton, just a few guys, in Los Angeles for business. We had pretty typical rooms, not one of the big corner rooms -- those look very big on the floor plans! But our rooms were just typical, although I'd say the bathroom was exceptionally large. Nice bathroom. I'd stay here with my family and kids, without hesitation.
We had executive floor access, and I was pretty underwhelmed by the breakfast offerings there. I am beginning to think having executive floor access is quite overrated. Of course, getting free yoghurt and cereal and muffins and orange juice is not to be scoffed at on vacation is it? We'd probably have paid $15 for all that, if we had eaten downstairs. Enh. Eating at hotels is never really a treat, is it?
Otherwise, the bar service at the hotel bar was average, the drinks were...average, but at hotel-lobby prices. It was ho-hum.
That's about all I saw of the hotel! There was a mini-bar, which we didn't use, and there were some nice fruit baskets in the room when we got there. It was pretty nice, but it just didn't blow me away.
This hotel is close to the red line's Universal City stop. Indeed, for $1.25 we rode all the way from the airport to the hotel. Two things you should know before you do this. The first is, it is a pretty long ride, and it was pretty rowdy on the green line from airport to imperial. But once you get to Universal City, the hotel is *uphill* significantly from the red line station. This may not be obvious from google maps, but it is a serious uphill climb to the hotel, so be in good shape or try to hail a cab...or just sweaty and exhausted and fall down in the lobby like we did.
