We had two adjoining rooms for our family of 6. As we arrived early we were advised the rooms were not yet ready. However one of the rooms was quickly made up, so we could at least get into that. The friendly staff member was helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
As Hilton diamond members we enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast each morning for a very low price. We also received complimentary drinks and appetizers at the bar each night. This was a nice touch.
The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds very comfortable.
The pool area was great. Lots of comfortable sun lounges and the pool towels thick and plentiful.
Great location for Universal Studio and the CityWalk, and only a short walk to the Metro which was a stop from Hollywood. We travelled on the Metro on several occasions.
The only negative was the room service. Whilst prompt, the menu was mediocre. My meal was served with old brown wilted lettuce.
Also no minibar available, which was disappointing.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable week and will definitely stay again!

though we were put into a smoking room when we first arrived the staff was accommodating in getting us moved to a more tolerable room. the beds were comfortable and the room quite convenient as we were going to universal studios one day and warner brothers studios the next. the buffet was fine but for the price would prefer to order from the menu and have something prepared fresh for me. the wine list was quite tasty and our server was sweet, knowledgeable and accommodating. the more expensive the hotel the more they charge for though, $20+ for parking, $7+ for wifi, over $200 for the room. Had spent the night before at a Radisson suites in buena park that we enjoyed very much for half the price, free wifi, free parking and complimentary breakfast buffet (no, not continental breakfast, real food). Granted the Radisson was a more hands on hotel but would stay there again before returning to the hilton.

First, the posotives: This is a beautiful hotel, within walking distance to Universal Studios. Our room was very nice, clean, and had a nice view. We stayed on the executive floor and I have no idea why we paid extra for this. The first night we had a small plate left in our room with a couple of pieces of small fruit and a chocolate. Otherwise, there didn't seem to be any amenity associated with our room. Check in was a nightmare! We waited at least 30 minutes in line to check in and then it took the staff 20 minutes to handle the check in process. The associate was nice, but just seemed to make the process MUCH harder and longer than necessary This was happening to everyone, hence the 30 minute wait. Our reservations had been made in advance and reconfirmed the previous day, so there was not any problem with our reservation, the staff just seemed incompetent. During our 2 day stay, only once did we pass the front desk that there wasn't a line of people. I can't imagine why that was so difficult! Also, they seemed to have a perpetual buffet that they were setting up while we were there. We didn't eat at it, although the food was presented very nicely, because it is set up in the walkway and people continuously are passing through it. This seems very unsanitary, as guests could brush up against it as they constatly walk by it. It also made passage to get to the garage or out the door to Universal Studios very crowded. I image it is hard for the guests who are trying to serve themselves as well. Very unappealing and frustrating. Surely a hotel this big could find another place for their buffet. Good location for Universal, but that's the only reason to stay here.

We had about 1.5 days to spend in the LA-area before our long trip overseas...so we decided to check out Universal Studios Hollywood. The hotel parking was reasonable (we self-parked, very easy). The property is older but well-maintained. Staff is friendly. Got a free-upgrade to executive level since I'm a HHonors member. We had an alcove room which was very well appointed and clean. Great views. Great shuttle service to Universal Studios/CityWalk OR just walk - only takes a few minutes. Breakfast was outsanding and was discounted for HHonors members. Overall great stay and worth the short drive from LAX.

Ok, yes it is pricey here, but it really is a great location.
This Hilton also has great amenities. Although we didn't get a chance to try the pool (next time) they have a great bar area and a buffet (also didn't try), not to mention the weekend brunch. We where on our way out and it smelled and looked amazing.
We stayed here for the the playboy jazz festival and you can take the park and ride shuttle a short walk down the hill from the Hilton.
The rooms are nice and clean and we had a great view of the Hollywood Hills. The beds are also very comfy.
I really enjoyed my stay here, hopefully we'll come back soon.
