“A great little place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Plenty of parking available, and easy to make your way around the city from here. Would stay again.

The shuttle bus up to city walk only runs at certain times however so be sure that you don't miss out!

Thanks for a great couple of days.

I spent one night here and found this place very charming and comfortable. This property has been completely re-done, and it is sparkling clean. My deal-breaker is always the bathroom in the room, and it looked positively brand-spanking new.

The lobby looked like something out of a 60's movie with Rock Hudson/Doris Day, the décor, the style, even the staff at the front desk :) The lounge areas have huge TV screens that are playing classic films - when I checked in, they were playing "Boom Town" with Clark Gable and Spencer Tracey, one of my favorites.

The hotel is garden-style, which means that it is not a high-rise with elevators. It is more like a large motel, and there are only 2 elevators located about a 5 minute walk from the front desk. You're advised where to park so that you won't have far to go to your room.

The hotel is located at the very busy intersection of Ventura Blvd. and Coldwater Canyon, and the landscaping covers some of the signs, so it's hard to see the hotel name.

The lobby does have a few stairs, and I was lugging a bag, laptop, suitcase, etc. so even those few steps do make a difference.

My room was huge - thank goodness the TV screen was proportionately sized so that I could see it from the bed. As I mentioned before, the bathroom was in great condition, and sparkling clean.

I had been very much looking forward to having dinner at the River Rock, which is next door to the hotel, but it was closed to a private function. There is not much within walking distance, so we had to get back in the car and down Ventura to scout out another restaurant (of which there are plenty, but again, not within walking distance).

I had a good night's sleep in the king-sized bed, which had a very good firm mattress.

I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: Fifth floor - noise level is low

We found this hotel very comfortable, with big rooms, big beds and everything really nice and clean. I loved the decoration, around the deer theme (not real deer heads... but sculptures... everything white.. really tasteful. Everything looks brand new and well tended. If you are going to have a car and do not want to be in a the middle of the crowded area, this hotel is a good choice. It has a wonderful location; 3 minutes drive to the 101 freeway, around 15 minutes to Universal, and around 20 or 25 minutes to Hollywood. From here we drived all over LA area, Hollywood, LA downtown, the Valley, Santa Monica, Venice, Malibú.

A good hint: If you are coming from Hollywood, to avoid the traffic jam in the freeway, drive threw the hills, instead. They are a couple of canyon roads like Laurel Canyon Bld, or Mulholand Dr; they are all beautiful, with great views and wonderful houses to look at. We just googled map the hotel and change the route to go threw this alternative routes trying a different one everyday.

We also enjoy the breakfast in the cafe. Not cheap, but one breakfast is big enough for two normal people..unless you are an 18 years old boy like my son, who manage to not leave anything on his plate ;-).

I don't know if this happens every weekend but they had wonderful jazz music in the lounge this Saturday night.

I just had an overnight at the Sportsmen's Lodge and Event Center. We were sponsoring an Expo the following day. Easy check-in and check-out. Very friendly staff.
Really good food at the River Rock Restaurant!
Try the Skillet Mac'nCheese!

Room Tip: Well, my room had a bit of a perfume-y smell. If I wasn't so tired, I would have switched rooms.

We're so glad you enjoyed your time with us! The Skillet Mac n Cheese is one of our favorites as well. We will let our Housekeeping staff know to be alert to any heavy perfume smells in the rooms.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon!

Was unimpressed by the Sporsman's Lodge, small beds and average decor topped off by having to pay $14 per day to park...! Which wasn't mentioned when booking. Would not recommend. Why do they charge for parking in this area?!

Room Tip: Not over looking the noisy pool.

Stayed here for a few nights on business in Burbank and was very happily surprised with the hotel. Very nice pool side room. Basic but clean and easy. A cool little bar with good music and drinks. Food is just so-so but there are so many great restaurants and bars in walking distance it really doesn't matter. Hotel is good for people watching too. Don't be surprised if they are filming something at the pool or a band is staying there while in town. For the money it's a perfect spot if your doing the studios, parks or just want to be close to Hollywood without staying in the madness of Hollywood blvd.
