First time on property. Stayed 5 nights for seminar at a gargantuan hotel a mile away. Am SOooo glad chose to stay here because it had much more of a small European hotel/country inn feel, e.g., staff friendliness and guest recognition, personable breakfast and dinner service in restaurant as well as room service, responsive and friendly housekeeping staff. Actually, ALL the staff were extremely friendly AND professional!
Tula's restaurant onsite has excellent food and value. I had a breakfast and lunches at Hilton and Sheraton during mtgs and there is no comparison to Tula's yummy factor, service, portion and price. For dinner one night took waiters suggestion of chefs special (duck) and recommended wine pairing--great meal and evening.
Re location: it's a pleasant 10 minute WALK to supermarket, chinese restaurant, starbucks and I felt very safe. I went for a dessert and coffee walk after late meeting at 1030pm and it's indeed an okay neighborhood to walk.
Stayed 3 more nights a week later in August in a different wing and here's my take on the rooms, both times on the 5th (nonsmoking) floor:
1. Bldg on the far left behind lobby is where I stayed for first 5 nights. Bathtup didn't work for baths so had to shower but all else was great--room size, comfy king bed and pillow choices, quiet location (facing garden/lobby). Probably due for remodel/update in future.
2. August stay I was 2 bldgs behind the swimming pool/sauna area overlooking parking lot. Think it might be much more quieter and private than first bldg. This room was larger and nicely upgraded and seemed more like rooms I get when on corporate business account.
Example of staff service, efficiency and personableness:
I was stranded waiting for a cab company that kept saying "it'll be 15 minutes" and an hour and 4 phone calls later I was still waiting in the sweltering afternoon heat. At my wits end I called the hotel and Robin at the front desk expertly handled panicked guest (me), figured out where I was, called the cab company they usually use, had me wait in a specific area and a cab arrived 10 minutes later. During the 10 minute wait she called bacl to make sure I was where instructed to be and asked that I please let the front desk know when I got in so they knew I was okay and back at property.
