“Perfect Location for Universal Studios”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

We stayed here twice on our USA visit. 2 nights at start of Sept over the Labor day long weekend.
& 2 nights later in the month as we traveled back from San Francisco down to San Diego.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Always multiple staff standing at the front doors to greet & assist guests.
Labor day weekend was very busy but created a great atmosphere as they had a pool party with BBQ set up, DJ Splash pumping out her music and after that they brought out a big screen & showed a movie as people swam & lounged around the pool. Parking near your room was never a problem with a plentiful number of spaces in the car park. Rooms were clean & family friendly with double bunks for the kids. The location is perfect for Universal Studios. The hotel runs a shuttle bus every hour from 9am through to 10pm dropping off & picking up right at the studio entrance. There are a large number of shops & places to eat on the street outside the entrance so it is very convenient should you wish to dine out & have a wine or two.
Possibly the only reason i marked this hotel 4/5 and not 5/5 is that there is not much else directly around it within walking close distance. Also all the rooms designed for families with young children are right up the back in the Portolio building furthest away from the pool area.
Also on our first 2 night visit we left an item behind in the room. We contacted the hotel and they advised us housekeeping had found it in the room, the manager had personally seen it & confirmed it was in lost & found. When we arrived on our second stay they could not locate it although the manager told us it was definitely there earlier. What happened to it is still unknown.

Room Tip: The Portolio building is nearest the highway right up the back so you get road traffic noise. It i...

Beverly Garlands is a nice hotel in LA. The rooms are well equipped, although perhaps a little dated. The cooling is loud. The staff are terrific, very helpful, and customer friendly. The courtesy bus is very good. The restaurant is excellent and very well priced. It is a good location if you are visiting universal studios or in LA on business. Otherwise the area is boring, with little of interest nearby.

This hotel is very nice but I would recommend staying if you plan on doing universal or if you drive. We didn't quite realise the size of LA and as we both can't drive in the states the location wasn't very good although its brilliant for universal and the free shuttle is great to.
The rooms are small and clean and the general hotel is clean as well. Food in the tulus restaurant is very over priced because there isn't really much else around the location. Although we found a little place called City Wok which was delicious only 5 minutes away and that was great. Staff are very helpful, helped us out explaining all the trips and what ones would be good for us to go on for what we wanted to do.
Rooms don't have a safe and the safety deposit boxes won't fit anything large in them like laptops or slr cameras so that wasn't very good, had to keep that locked in suitcase.
If you drive and are going to universal then this would be the ideal place to stay but if not there will be better hotels out there.

Whilst the city of LA might take alittle liking the Beverly Garland certainly does not. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming making the hustle and bustle seem a million miles away. I would thoroughly recommend afternoon by the pool where the pool service makes for a very relaxed and enjoyable time.
The rooms are clean and spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 children to happily stay.
Tip 1, if you like alittle independance then a walk up to the shopping area provides you with all you need. (Left out of the gate and walk 2 blocks)
Tip 2, buy your theme park tickets at the onsite shop and gain a world of information from the wonderful staff.
A really good place to stay.

Just got back from a 5 night stay at this hotel with my boyfriend.
We actually picked this hotel not because of universal itself but more because of the citywalk access (to resteraunts etc) and the fact the trolley drops you at the metro (subway) making it very speedy to get to Hollywood and Highland (chinese theatre) as it is only one stop.
The trolley is every half hr before 11 and then every hour so easy to plan your time around catching one.
We did walk from the metro one afternoon and it probably only took 15mins at the most (but we dont dordle). And we also got a taxi back from The chinese theatre onenight and this was about $20, so still not too bad.
The location in our opionion was great.
The hotel itself was also really nice altough we wernt actually in it very much.
Check-in was fine and any info we needed we were given.
We went to the Decoy bar once, the bar snacks were really yummy, especially the fully loaded fries.
We only had breakfast at Tulas and we only did so twice, our first we ordered off the menu, they let my boyfriend mix and match what he wanted as he didnt want some options from the set meals which was good.
The second time we went for the buffet which was really nice, lots of choice, my only nag is that it was quite alot money and we really wouldnt do it more than once because of that, $16.99 X2 plus a tip really does make for an expensive breakfast.
The pool we only went to once for a quick dip after a warm day out, really nice area around the pool and had we had one more day in LA im sure we would have made it a pool day.
The room was plenty big enough for our needs, they have a nice big tv.
The balcony was nice although we didnt use because the noise from the freeway really was loud, but from inside the room with patio doors shut the noise was really minimal and could barely be heard.
The bed was amazingly comfy, didnt have a bad nights sleep the whole five nights.
Rooms have no safes but the reception has a small ajoining room with safes in free of charge.
We really liked this hotel and due to how handy the location is we would 100% stay here again.

Stayed here with family over the Labor day weekend and really enjoyed out stay. Felt more of a resort/ complex than a hotel. The free shuttle to universal studios and / or the LA metro was a bonus. Hotel situated just off freeway and short drive to Hollywood bowl, Hollywood and Beverley Hills.
We had a very enjoyable meal in the restaurant and took advantage of the happy hour, sat on the patio of the cocktail lounge. Lovely pool area and fitness centre. Although you have to pay a daily rate for parking, Holiday Inn reward club members have a reduced rate. The staff were very attentive. The Hotel was immaculate, well maintained and clean. Staff appeared proud to work there and were even sweeping up leaves when we arrived on 1st Sept ! Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again.

Stayed for one night at the Beverly Garland and we got upgraded to a remodeled room. It was very clean, very comfortable and the amenities were great. We took advantage of the shuttle, which was a great service to get to Universal Studios/City Walk. Parking is expensive, but most hotels charge a parking fee. The front desk staff was professional and service was good. The hotel has good amenities; pool, restaurant, cable T.V. and WiFi...this is why they rates are high. But it was great to use the pool and hot tub (pool area very clean), after a day of hanging out at Universal CIty Walk. Although it was pricey we would stay here again if we were to go to Universal Studios. Check rates in advance for deals. We really enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: If you plan on going to Universal Studios this Hotel is great because of the free shuttle. The rates...
