We were put into this hotel by BA when our aircraft developed a mechanical problem and the return flight to London had to be delayed until the next day. In every way the Sheraton Gateway was better than the Holiday Inn at LAX where we spent the first night of our recent holiday. The lobby staff were efficient, the food and service in the restaurant were good and our room was great. We will definitely consider returning to this hotel when we stay at LAX again.

I stayed at this property quite by accident on the night that the Los Angeles Air Traffic Center had it's meltdown - back in mid-September. All flights were cancelled, and I found myself stuck in Los Angeles. I called several hotels and they were either full, or exorbitantly expensive.
I booked the Sheraton on Starwood points, and considered myself lucky.
The check-in and check-out were a bit hairy, and crew-oriented (as another poster noted), and the Platinum level upgrade had to be drug out of them. However, once inside the room, I could find nothing amiss. The Heavenly Beds are just that --- the rooms were impeccably clean ... and there was nothing but peace and tranquility around.
Upon returning home, I voiced my concerns to Mr. Michael Miner, the manager. He was duly concerned, and invited me back the next time I was to be in LA. Generally, when staying in LA, I don't need to be near the airport - but my wife and I took him up on his invitation, and from the reception, it was clear that my comments had been taken to heart, and that Mr. Miner truly wanted our business back. WELL DONE!

Spent one night at the Sheraton Gateway before flying out the next morning. Beautiful hotel; Great amenities and an amazingly comfortable bed. I felt truly relaxed in my hotel room. Morning newspaper and in-room coffee was great. Ate at the restaurant in the hotel as there was quite a rainstorm outside and did not want to go out. Also, after a long day of travel, just wanted to relax. Dinner at restaurant was a wee bit questionable, (service a little shaky). However, breakfast buffet was great. The concierge personnel were also quite nice. Overall, I would definitely stay here again whenever I have a layover at LAX.
