I was profoundly disappointed in this hotel. I booked four different hotels for my most recent stay in Los Angeles. All hotels were booked through hotwire, but this was the only 4 star. All others were 2 or 3 star. Naturally, I assumed this would be the nicest. Unfortunately, I could not have been more wrong.

Although I wasn't terribly impressed with the amenities of the hotel (there was only one restaurant opened when we got there and it was the most up-scale, when we just wanted an evening snack, the gift shop was not opened at 10PM) the main problem was with the bathtub. It was completely covered in small black spots. At first I thought it was paint spattered on the bottom of the tub, but I rubbed it, and it smeared! It was the consistency of charcoal. Of course, I called the front desk and the immediate response was, "I'm sorry, we don't have any other rooms available." I insisted that housekeeping come up and clean the tub. A nice gentleman came very quickly and cleaned, then asked me to come look and approve the work. The tub was spotless. I thanked him and asked what the stuff was. His only response was, "It's nasty, isn't it?" I agreed that it was, but at least the tub was clean so I didn't say anything else.

Imagine my surprise when the next morning the tub was in exactly the same condition as it had been when we arrived the night before!! The photos that accompany this review were taken in the morning, AFTER the tub had been cleaned and appeared spotless 8 hours earlier. I wish now that I would have called the Health Department and waited until they got there, but I wanted to get started on my vacation. I put a towel down and took my shower.

This hotel was by far the worst of all four; the others were quite a pleasant surprise after this fiasco. The photos were taken with my cell phone.

On our way to Hawaii, leaving NYC at night, we needed a place for a few hours at LAX until we could catch the morning flight to Honolulu.

For $116, this wasn't a bad option and they have a good shuttle to and from the airport being so close.

When we checked in, they were friendly and even upgraded us to a small suite. Nice big room, but I cannot understand why they still had an old tv instead of a flat panel. The old tv was at an odd angle and distance from the bed and made watching in bed difficult.

The only problem is that we got a room that connected next door, and at 1am, we had to call downstairs to have them call the guy to ask him to lower the tv (was watching some church sermon very loudly).

Otherwise, it was great for what we used it for.

Stayed for one night in April 2008.

Check in was fast and friendly and my room on the 9th floor was great. I was originally in another room which had a noisy aircon and I was moved as soon as I called the front desk.

The rooms are tastefully decorated and are very comfortable. The beds are fantastically comfortable. Room service was quick. Breakfast the nect morning was very good.

The hotel deserves it's star rating, and my only complaint is the parking - you can either valet your car at enormous expense or park at a general airport parking lot behind the hotel, which isn't cheap either. People may feel uncomfortable walking around behind the hotel alone at night.

Would I stay there again? Yes. It's a great hotel witn comfortable facilities.

  • Disliked — Parking in a dodgy lot behind the hotel

We stayed at the Sheraton Gateway by LAX in late March/08. The hotel shuttle is excellent. Check-in was wonderful. We stayed on the club floor. The room was large and not to over-crowded with furniture. The lobby is nice and the outdoor pool is very nice. There's a free shuttle bus that takes you from the hotel to Manhattan Beach area (very nice area)...about a 20 minute ride.

This hotel looses points for both service and room quality. I would not stay there again and would not recommend it to a friend.

My assistant booked my room through hotwire and requested a 4 star hotel in West Los Angeles. I am familiar with the airport location but was hopeful that the Sheraton would infact be a 4 star experience.

The lobby is beautiful and the valets very nice. However, it took 20min to check in and there was only 1 person ahead of us. I was told that I couldn't record the stay on my Starwood perfered account because it was booked through Hotwire.

The room was above a very noisy airconditioner unit. I figured that was probably what booking with Hotwore is all about.
But inspite of location, I would still expect a clean tastefully appointed room. Unfortunately I recieved netiher.

The bathroom was dirty with a severely chipped and stained bathtub.
The room and bedding generally dinghy (579).
I attempted to call the front desk after 15min of the phone ringing I was moved to another room (518) the second was dirtier than the first, dirty glasses, severely chipped, mildewed and rusted shower/tub combo, black hairs in the tub and on the toilet.

Unfortunately, I was late for a dinner reservation and could not wait anouther 40min to change rooms.
