“Not your average airport hotel”

We stayed one night at the Marriott when we had (surprise, surprise) plane issues at LAX.

The room was very nice with a small balcony you could sun on. The pool area was great and the pool was heated. The beds are very comfortable but the bathroom is kind of small.

We did not eat in the hotel because my four year old son is picky but the concierge provided us with a list of other places within walking distance. We also took the free trolley from one block away down to Manhattan Beach and its small shops, restaurant and beach. That was fun.

“Disappointed with the Marriot”

I decided to take a room at the Marriot Lax based on other reviews I read on here and have to say I was very disappointed with the standards of the room. The bathroom washbasin had a huge hairline cack right through it, the wallpaper was all scuffed, and the furniture looked tired and a little unclean. The concierege was completely rude to some customers before me and completely disinterested in helping me use buses. His explanation was 'everyone uses taxis' and that was the end of his help. The restaurant was good and the service there was excellent. So all in all, I found my experience there below expectations, especially as I use Marriots in other cities and would definately not recommend this hotel to others.

“Loved the Mariott”

We stayed at the Mariott for 3 nights in Jan 2006 as it seemed easier to stay by the airport. It was great. It is very close to the airport and there is a free shuttle 24 hours so you don't need to worry about that. You can hear the planes but hardly and it is not disturbing at all.
There is a nice big pool area with a spa.
The rooms are really reasonable sizes and the beds are amazing!! The nicest softest duvets I've ever seen in a hotel!!
We did day trips to Hollywood and disneyland and the tour desk was really helpful, helping us organise buses etc. When booking, one concern was that it might be too far fo either of these places (hollywood and disneyland) but it wasn't at all and was really easy!!
We ate at one of the restaurants in the hotel and wouldn't really recommend it strongly but it was okay.
Overall I would recommend this hotel for any sort of stay in LA!!

“Decent enough airport hotel”

Not wanting to drive 120 miles after an 11 hour flight we booked an overnight stay in the Marriott. It's a typical airport hotel with all the regular business travellers and air crews staying. The room itself was clean and comfortable and had views of the airport. Noise from the airport isn't much of an issue as the hotel is reasonably soundproofed. The bathroom was decent as were the toiletries and towels. The bed wasn't so comfortable, with one side being higher than the other. The room service menu was extensive, but as we were too tired to eat we didn't get the chance to sample anything from it.

The restaurant in the morning offered a decent but expensive breakfast as one would expect from a Marriott hotel. The only blight on the stay was the filthy look from the waitress in the restaurant on recieving only 18% tip. In hindsight I should have given her a piece of my mind but it didn't seem appropriate at the time.

“Perfect hotel for a conference”

I stayed at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott for a weekend while attending a conference at the hotel for about 150 people. The staff was polite, the rooms were clean and quiet, and the meeting was incredibly well-run. I was impressed with the 1) quality of the meeting rooms; 2) the smooth and professional manner of the staff handling the meeting; 3) the excellent snacks and beverages for the meeting; 4) the lack of glitches with any AV equipment. I would absolutely recommend this hotel for any business conference/meeting.

My only small gripe: while all the meals were provided by the hotel, they could have been better quality. Very run-of-the-mill buffet fare with undercooked eggs at breakfast, undercooked rice at dinner, etc. But a small point that didn't detract considerably from the excellent location.

Having a meeting in such a well-run place made actually getting down to business a pleasure!
