“Great hotel near the airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

If you're looking for the closest Marriott to LAX, this is it. A great old building that shows its age but not bad. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and there is plenty of parking. The courtyard in the middle of the hotel is perfect for sitting out on a warm night.

With the exception of the internet, I found the LAX Marriot excellent. The free wifi in the lobby did not work with laptops, only iphones and barely on iPads which was really weird.

Internet access in the rooms cost the usual 9,95$ but I have to say it was really, really fast, which was much appreciated. Worth the price.

The pool area is really nice, much more of a resort type of pool area than what'd you expect from an airport hotel.

There's several restaurants at the property from a sports bar to a steakhouse. The main breakfast place/buffet was excellent. Service was slow, but the food was superb and the selection great. There was a great omelette station, dessert, a good selection of cold cuts and fruits. The breakfast was really great.

The room was fine, quiet and the amenities good as you expect from Marriot. Staff was very friendly too.

This was my second stay at this property for a week-long conference. From the clerk at check-in to the LAX shuttle driver, everyone was helpful and friendly. In particular, Blanca and Patrice (morning and evening attendants in the Concierge Lounge), and George Cartagenia (lunch server in the Meridian Room) were tremendously accomodating. Even wtih many people enjoying the breakfast, Blanca has time to greet returning clients with a smile or hug and a big cheerful "Good morning", even while she is busy re-supplying food and tidying up. Patrice never fails to remember to ask about my children, and is consistently helpful, professional, and kind. Lounge selections were very nice for breakfast and after-hours selections, with a nice choice of coffees, teas and desserts. (Love the jelly beans!)

The location does leave something to be desired if you care for sightseeing or neighborhood wandering, but it is an excellent site for conferences or continuing ed classes. Proximity to LAX makes travel much easier. The staff seems to genuinely enjoy their jobs, which can be a rare thing in the service industry.

I had a great corner room (946) - very spacious and roomy, and was very quiet. It was located at the very end of the hall, but I was glad of the extra walking after sitting in a conference room all day. Service in the room was consistent, with turn-down/chocolate service on the first night only. (I am gold eilte, giving me concierge level access and a room upgrade, if available.)

Very nice exercise room, as well. The pool area is large and attractive, although the weather was a bit too cool for me to enjoy it during my limited off time. All in all, a very nice stay, even though it WAS solely for work.

I stayed here the night before an early morning flight out of LAX to save time getting to the airport. The hotel is well-designed for business travelers who need a nice room with very easy access to the airport. The rooms are very small though, but people who stay here probably don't use the rooms very much anyways. The Concierge lounge (available to Marriott Rewards Gold and Platinum members) is a nice quiet space to relax with free snacks, soft drinks, coffee, and alcohol available for purchase on the honor system. Overall, a good hotel that meets the needs of travelers with quick airport access.

I booked one night here before joining a tour group. Rate was $129, which was about half the norm but I arrived for a Friday night stay. Weeknight stays are much more expensive. I arrived about 10:00AM and they already had my room available for me. Nice room overlooking the pool, which was as requested. The downside to the having a room in the pool area is that they place loud, piped in music all day and into the evening. I don't know why they find that necessary. It was a beautiful day and I wanted to have the balcony door open but the noise was distracting.

Very friendly desk staff. Even the maids in the hall would greet meet with a smile. It was very welcoming.
The King room was nicely appointed and the bed was very comfortable. One thing I did not like about the bed was that it had a thick, heavy duvet which was too hot to sleep under while just the top sheet was not enough.
The A/C unit was very noisy with mechanical sounds. And the water saving flush mechanism on the toilet kept allowing mini-refills every thirty seconds or so, which was quite annoying. However, I reported it to the front desk when I went down to dinner and it was repaired before I returned. Good job, that! Shower head pressure was only fair but at least I didn't have to run around in the tub to get wet.
The elevator nearest my room was inop the first day but there was no sign. I frequently observed people waiting for the elevator so I told them where to find another one: down the hall and around the corner. This went on all day so I'm not sure why a sign wasn't posted. It was working the next morning.
There are three restaurants on property. A casual one, a formal dining room, and a sports bar with a good selection of name brand beers as well as some local crafted one. Like all full service hotels, the food and drink were pricey. There is also a full service Starbucks in the lobby.
Free Wi-fi is available in the lobby. A pet peeve of mine is this: why can low price hotels offer free wi-fi in the rooms but not the upper priced ones? It seems like the more expensive the hotel is, the fewer amenities you get. You can get free Wi-fi, a free breakfast, and maybe even a Manager's Cocktail hour at most $100 (or less) a night hotels and the rooms are just as nice and comfortable. Try getting anything for "free" at more expensive hotels.
Overall though, good experience here. Convenient to the airport with free shuttle service.
I've stayed there before and probably will again if I can catch a good rate.

My partner stopped over at this hotel for the night on our way to Las Vegas as our plane was arriving late.
This hotel ticked all the boxes and was very clean , the staff where all very friendly and the room where very nice.
There is nothing around the hotel but other large chains and the airport but the hotel does provide a shuttle service to the airport and also santa monica.
All of the major car hire companies are around the corner within walking distance.
Highly recommend this hotel as a great place for a stop over

Room Tip: All of the rooms have double glazing but if you want a view ask for a room over looking the pool
