Stayed one night on way from London. Arrived at LAX at 7pm and after 2 hours to get through immigration I was glad the wait for the free shuttle to the hotel was not too long - about 10 minutes. Apparently one comes every 20 minutes. The driver was very courteous. Took longer getting around terminals than drive from airport to hotel. Check in very quick although lady at reception seemed to want to be anywhere else but working that night. Try a 12 hour flight from London! No assistance offered to bring cases to my room and the walk along the corridors seemed endless. The complex is two interconnected tower blocks and I found the walk exhausting, especially after a long flight and I am in my 30's. Very easy to get lost in the maze of bends. When I finally found my room it was clean and very comfortable, especially the bed. Bathroom on small side but all amenities and very clean. Unfortunately no bathrobe to change into and no mini bar/fridge for a cold drink. Do not recommend the buffet breakfast - very limited and the scrambled eggs tasted processed and dry. The waitress however was very friendly and helpful. Major suggestion: Do not make long distance calls from the hotel. - the rates are outrageous. The Starbucks in the lobby is a great bonus. The pool and garden area is like something out of the 60's - not very attractive and beware falling branches from the palm trees in high winds.

The property itself is clean, well-presented and well-maintained. However, for an airport hotel, and a property which does a great deal
of it's business with flight crews, it certainly does not go out of it's way to ensure that the crews are indulged.

We are Marriott Rewards customers (albeit the basic level), and were assigned a room on the ground floor - with a very narrow door, making
it hard to push our luggage through. This was almost laughable since the rooms on the opposite side of the hall had standard sized doors.
As other reviewers have noted, internet access is charged at $12.95 plus tax per day ... and parking is $19! So, a relatively inexpensive
room rate is pushed up substantially by the add-ons. So, if you have no car, and no need to use the internet - then this hotel is a relative bargain; if you need those accoutrement then the price rises
rapidly - and I would recommend the Doubletree down off of Sepulveda.

The other matter I took issue with during my stay was the large gathering that was held the morning of our departure. Since we were on the ground floor, and since there was an entry/exit at the end of our hall, it became very noisy in the morning as the group filed in, and furthermore, many members of that group were smokers so the hall was quite malodorous by the time we departed. Apparently, no effort was made to prevent the attendees from smoking in the lodging hallways.

On the bright side, corporate policy allows for a 3 PM departure upon
request - although that is done via the internet before one's arrival.

In summary, I would like to compliment the staff - to a person, they were pleasant and affable. To the management - rather than nickel-and-diming your flight crews, why not bundle everything so they will want to visit your property when traveling on leisure?

In all honesty, I probably would not return. More because I was disenchanted with the ground level room and the noise than for any other reason. Otherwise, it has the feel of a mid-level airport hotel.

  • Liked — Staff, late check out policy, prompt shuttle bus
  • Disliked — Parking and internet charges, ground floor room

I located this hotel at the AAA website and found it to be a great value. (Paid less than at any hotel during our 10 days in Ca., including most that were not as nice.)
The check in was efficient and the ladies were most helpful.
We were pleasantly pleased to find that we could check our Hertz rental car in at the hotel, rather than down the street at the large Hertz facility.
The room was easy to locate. (I don't know why some reviewers said they got lost in the hotel.) It was an average size with beautiful, plush bedding and lots of pillows, which were of great quality. The decor was updated with a table, upholstered arm chair, desk, chair, and bureau with TV on top.
In addition the room was quiet, and we did not hear the planes taking off and landing across the street at LAX.
We found that the remote to the TV did not work, and it took two calls to maintenance to correct the problem.
The bathroom was on the small side, but was not a problem. The shower in the tub was high enough with good flow. The counter was granite. The linens were nice, thick and oversized.
We had dinner in the dining room, and had a good experience there.
We used the complimentary shuttle to the airport and only waited about 10 min. for it to arrive in the am.
I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel. If ever I need a hotel to use when flying in or out of LAX, I would use this one.

I stayed in this hotel in August for a few nights. I booked the room well in advance through LastMInuteTravel.com. Checked in ok and confirmed that nothing was owing when I checked out. Later they charged my credit card for the full cost of the stay. This was just the start of the problem. The Marriott organisation turned out to be one of the most difficult bureacracies I have ever encountered. They finally refunded the charges but failed to provide any explanation of what went wrong or why it was so difficult to resolve.

The hotel itself was fine and I encountered no other problems during my stay but I would never deal with Marriott again.

This is a great hotel for people who like to walk. You really get a workout when you try to find your room. Perhaps you’ll walk up and down and around several corners of the very attractive long hallways with nice carpet to get to your room. The hotel is shaped like a square with a center courtyard that includes the large swimming pool and hot tub.

Request a room with a balcony on the lower floors facing the pool. Higher floors facing the pool do not have a balcony. The rooms are small, but nice and include usual Marriott standards such as great bedding, work desks and lighting. The room had a nice TV, but the remote needed batteries.

Marriott still pushes that awful scented ginger smelling lotion and bathroom products. Some hotels will give guys a non-scented or the low-keyed almond scented product from the front desk.

The property is close to the freeway. During rush hour forget trying to get anywhere fast. Mapquest told me it would take 21 minutes to get downtown. It took an hour ten minutes.

The hotel has one of the best work-out facilities, including dozens of treadmills, stair masters, bikes, free weights and other good equipment. Treadmills have TV. New earplugs are provided.

Of three nice restaurants, I decided to go to JW’s Steakhouse for an appetizer and soup, which was excellent. Due to an early flight, I had to order room service for a basic breakfast of scrambled eggs, wheat toast, crisp bacon, OJ and “missing coffee.” Room service delivered two OJ’s and no coffee by mistake. But, when I called the front desk, they gave me a $7 credit on my bill and told me to order a coffee from the lobby Starbucks. This was a great offer, but I had to pass because the airport shuttle had arrived and I didn’t want to wait another fifteen or twenty minutes for the next bus. The food in the concierge lounge looked great, but I was only able to grab a banana since the lounge didn’t open till 6:30 am. I needed to be at LAX by 7am. If you’re taking the free shuttle to LAX, give yourself a 30 minute window to arrive at check-in.

  • Liked — Close to LAX, close to freeway, bus to LAX terminal
  • Disliked — No set schedule for free bus to LAX, might have 20 minute wait
