Got there Friday afternoon, left Sunday afternoon, and we have no complaints whatsoever. Before booking the trip we read a few reviews that complained about the parking, then again if you really must stay in downtown you dont want to park anywhere thats not covered and secure, the Bonaventure parking was 35, others without valet parking where five dollars less and you either had to walk across the street or a couple of blocks. That was the major complaint we came across. Once youre inside the hotel the staff is very helpful, polite and friendly. We stayed in the green tower, the elevators were pretty cool with an awesome view of LA. The room was great, at the front desk they told us our agent had booked a double bed room, but they were able to accomodate us with a single queen size room. I could write a lot more great things about this place, all i can say is that if youre going to stay in downtown this hotel is the way to go. The main reason we were there was to see our Dallas Stars play against the kings just a few blocks west of the hotel, i cant think of any other place i'd rather stay if we go back. GREAT PRICE>

we booked our stay on hotwire. We knew we may get this hotel and read reviews in advance but for the price we could not be beat. The AC is highly controlled and we were warm. we called the front desk and they said its november the air is off till summer. we can use the heat or fan. we were warm all night long. there are lots of resaurants in the hotel but the shops you read about are lousy they are selling a bunch of crap from the downtown fashion mart very over priced. Most of the shops are vacant not being rented by anyone. I would imagine in the mid 1980s this had alot of high end boutiques.
All in all looking for a clean comfy bed at a cheap price this place is very okay. As long as being warm is okay with you! Dont pay too much you wont be happy.

Stayed for two nights in early November '07. Room was very nicely decorated, nice bathroom, and the room was deathly quiet, making for a very relaxing stay. Bed was extremely comfortable, helping cure my jet lag. Was in the Blue tower, and had no issues that others have mentioned regarding room condition or cleanliness. Parking is $35, and could not fine a deal better than $30 without walking for blocks. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Liked — quality of the room, hotel location
  • Disliked — pricey parking - I was not on an expense account.

Stayed here for work as it it is close to my LA office, which was good, but the hotel is in poor condition. Room was tiny, three times the electricty went out in my room when I tried to dry my hair - and I only had the dryer and the bathroom light on! Rooms are not as clean as you would expect for a Westin and the hotel is so massive, it feels like a big warehouse. Would not recommend staying unless you need to for business. Inconvenient for all other areas to get to.

As participant at a medical congress the Westin Bonaventure was part of the proposed hotel. We choose it because it was possible to walk to the congress center.I've made the reservation the 1st day of the opening site, in June 2007.
When we arrive at 8'50 pm, from France, we got the 1457 room, in the middle tower...Nice room, perhaps little in size for three(2 parents and our 14 years old daughter..) but not too little...
Problem was the NOIZE...Beware, middle tower is where the vending and ice machine are and they are ANTIQUES...
So, I go down and they relocate us to the 1051...in a lateral tower, far from those machines...Rooms here are smaller but as we are not a long time in it(a lot to do...)it was OK...But the tenth floor is the first floor of guest rooms and so you have the "ventilation" fan from the lobby on the "roof" , a little noisy(less than ice machine..).
I go down to try to get a room on a higher floor and come the usual sentence : sorry but as you check in late, you've got the last rooms and so in the lower floors...Even with my Starwood card impossible to change...They were sold out...
It's not the first time I've this respons in US and I find this policy a litlle...stupid!!!
Whe I was student, I've worked in the hotel industry and in France, sooner you reserve and better is the room you have in the category of price you request...Here, just to check in early and you have the best...
For the last 2 nights we have had a room adjacent for our daughter, at the same rate, they said...By chance, I verify and on the note, the rate was the one of a triple occupancy...So I've to
go to reception to have the correction...(double occupancy for the last 2 nights of the 1051 and single occupancy for the 1052 where was our daughter..).
So, nice location in downtown, not far/Stapple center, chinatown, metro...but this hotel has now its "age" and need to be rethinked in size of rooms and room's attribution policy...
Erik.
