While the refurbished lobby, restaurants and bars are still elegant and luxurious, the standard rooms are far more reminiscent of a decrepit dorm room. Chipped paint, rusting fixtures, moldy grout and an utter lack of amenities. The assorted selections of soaps and shampoos, apparently borrowed from other hotels, is not critical, but is indicative of the curent state of the Biltmore. Waking up to find a mixture of cold to luke warm water dribbling out of the five foot high showerhead only reinforced an already negative impression. The staff are certainly accomodating and room service was adequate, but I would wait until a complete renovation of the rooms before ever staying at the Biltmore again.

I stayed there last month..hotel is nice..room was huge...nice TV..bed....elevator is about 100 years old and a little slow....parking is not cheap..26 plus tips for the valet...I parked the last night across the street in the city parking garage only $14..no tip.

Service was friendly but a little incompetent...didnt know how to use the check cashing machine...needed a manager but no one was around. Room safe didnt work. Internet use is outrageous $8.00 for 15 minutes!!!!! in the business center.

The area was very ethnically diverse and interesting...not scary.

Overall a good hotel for the right price!!!

I stayed at the Biltmore December 7-9, on business. I found all of the employees to be friendly, and all of the accommodations were lovely. A great deal of effort goes into making guests feel comfortable.

The Japanese restaurant was very good, although the delivery of the food was inconsistent. As a party of four, the first person to be served was finished with her meal when the last person was served. The staff was very friendly though...

I will return to the Millenium Biltmore.

I stayed for 8 days at the Biltmore for a convention in October. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the staff was and how large our room turned out to be. We checked in at about 12:30 a.m. and the bellman took our bags up while we were finishing up the check-in process. When we were let into our room we went into a little hall way with two other doors. One door lead to a bedroom area then second door lead to a living and dinning room area. We ended up having a suite for the price of just a regular room. The closet was a typical 1920-30's style walk in with just a rack and 3 shelves along with an ironing board and iron. The bathroom was small as others have stated but the seperate shower made up for the small area. Each of our rooms had a desk with a mirror so we could do our hair and make-up however, the lighting was dark and made it a challange. Just remember to call for your car about 10-15 minutes before you are ready to go, it does take a little time to get your car.

The public areas are beautiful and if you love old buildings this is a great place to stay. Even with convention traffic of 350 people plus other events in the hotel the elevators were not over whelmed.

Overall we had a great stay at the Biltmore and would definately stay again and recommend it to others.

What a beautiful hotel - spacious rooms, an elaborate lobby, a swanky lounge, several restaurants connected to the hotel as well as a sports bar, and a connection to old Hollywood like no other complete with a photographic history on the walls all around you.

Unfortunately.....

It couldn't be in a worse location. Outside of the fact that you are three blocks away from the ghetto (which is upsetting and makes you feel guilty walking down the streets if you have any sort of soul), Downtown L.A. is really far from everything that a tourist would like to see their first time out. So a lot of your expenses will be spent on cabs if you don't like mass transit. Forget the buses - they take eons. Subways are easy to navigate and are economical ($3 for a day pass) however the lines are very limited and you'll have to take a connecting bus to Santa Monica and outskirting areas.

Even though the hotel is esquisite, and the room rates were a good price, you end up paying the difference in cab fares and lost time. Better to pay the extra $40-50 per night on a hotel closer to the action since a one way cab ride costs that much anyway.
