I have booked this hotel via British Airways and BA e-mailed them, I e-mailed them several times with my simple requests regarding a quiet room with good views. Miranda in Reservations said no problems but what I have experienced was completely different.
The hotel's common areas on the ground floor are simly majestic (a mixture between Alphonso XIII in Seville and Nacional de Cuba in Havana). However this is where the beauty stops, as my room had no views (imagine a U shaped wall and my window at the base at the U - limited views). The most upsetting though after spending all this time on e-mails was the room location on a busy hallway. It was very difficult to sleep (after a 11h flight and 8h difference with London) with all the disconsiderate young girls shouting on the hallway up to 3am LA time (the doors were so thin), nevermind the engine like permanent noise that came from somewhere outside (probably underground) that made even things in the bathroom vibrate). The room did not have double glazing was very basic and looks like a 2 or 3 star hotel. I was offered a room on the next floor but just above, so probably the same problems. At 4am I went to the Business Room to print 2 pages that cost me together with 6min spent online the amount of almost 7 dollars (could be pricey for the Americans).
It seems to me the hotel would more suit a big noisy group and not quiet tired people. The receptionist said the hotel does not have plans for a future renovation (the bathroom would definitely benefit). At 7am I checked out and just after 8am I was comfortably checked in Beverly Hilton (that's what I call outstanding service). Based on the lack of sleep and presentation I would rate my experience as terrible and the hotel as a 3 star only.
