I stayed in this hotel in March 2004. I picked this place because its cheap price and its convinience location in downtown L.A. My trip over there was part bussiness and since it was my first time in L.A. I made some room for pleasure.
If I ever go to L.A. again I will make sure to avoid this place. This place is a residential hotel. there nothing wrong with that but it means that you wont get the services that you might get in other places such as cable tv (no cable or remote control), alarm clock and a friendly fronty desk that could help you with any tourist help that you might need. Every time that I ask anything at the front desk about places to eat or places to visit in L.A. they just did not know what to tell me and they did not have any brochures or anything about the city.
All the hotel smells like Indian food because there is an Indian food restaurant in the first floor, I love Indian food but not to smell it everywhere in the hotel (including my room) also its smells like dust because the hotel has a carpet that in my opinion they must never vacuum. everytime I enter my room I could not believe the bad smell. I tryied using the air condition to try to make the room smell a bit better but the air condition machine has to be from like the 1970's. they didn't really cool the room and it was louder than any refrigirator that I have ever seen. All of the rooms have the same air condition machines (you can notice that by looking at the outside of the hotel).
Aside from the carpet being very dusty and the floors having dirt stains, the walls of the hotel are very dirty also they have weird marks on them and again, even in my room. the rooms are very small (I got to see two different rooms in different sides of the hotel) and in the wall next to my bed there was the biggest piece of human mucus that I've ever seen stock to the wall.
Well you ge the picture - in my opinion if they are not thinking of remodeling this place soon they should at least change the dirty carpets and paint the walls. Otherwise they should just make sure that they do advertise that it is a residential hotel.
