“Super convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2006

We stayed there to go to a party in the downtown area, about 2 miles from the hotel. We returned to the hotel at 3 am and had to be let in to the garage because they keep it locked at night. Comforting to know our car would be safe. The room was nicer than I expected for the price.
The hotel is clean. The night staff a little slow. From our 4th floor room we could see the end of Olvera street and Union Station on the other side of that. Very nice. Quiet. Breakfast is just carbs and dairy but if you want protein there are taquerias on Olvera St.

For LA the price is relatively good and it isn't a dump. If you care more about value and convenience than fancy frills that cost extra then this is the place.

This hotel has everything for the budget tourist. Close to public transportation. The DASH bus is $.25 and leaves Union Station every 5 minutes to downtown. Take the Metro to Hollywood and save the gas and parking fee. The hotel (room 401) offers large, quiet room with 2 beds, small fridge, large tiled bath with heat lamps, working A/C, windows that open, clean, friendly staff, $4.00 a day parking, free breakfast and close to cheap food and nice restaurants. This is not a luxury hotel, but offers good value.

My wife and I stayed here to run the LA marathon this year, 19 March '06. The hotel was very convenient to Union Station, and a quick ride on the Metro to the starting line, near Pershing Square. I asked them if we could have 2pm (vs. noon) check-out on Sunday, so I could take a shower after the race. Although the hotel was clearly not full, they wouldn't allow it. Not too friendly. Other downtown hotels allow late check-out on Marathon day. The room was fine, nothing special. If you can book at one of the hotels near the starting line, as we have in the past, it's better; more friendly to marathoners.

This hotel surpassed my expectations, I arrived early (around 10am) and it was no problem to check in and get my room.

The rooms were quite spacious, very clean and tastefully decorated. Whilst the hotel did not have any luxuries (coffee maker or mini bar) it did have a fridge in the room.

Its location was reasonable, a good place to access public transport the Metro and buses are available from Union station.

There is a Subway next door and a petrol station over the road - so at least you won't starve. The management were helpful and friendly.
