“Mostly Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

There was a lot to like about the Luxe. Firstly, the room size was enormous and the bathroom was also good sized. There was a smaller area off of the bedroom where there was a refrigerator and coffee maker which was a nice touch. Our room also had a large patio off of it. The only negatives were the smoke that was possibly left over from a previous guest in my room. I think that the property is non-smoking, so this was a bit strange. Our guess was that someone had smoked outside and it got into the room by accident, but it should have been noticed by housekeeping because it was very noticeable. Everything else about our stay was top notch and we will be back. Its a decent value for the money and the property itself is well done and nicely appointed. The staff was extremely nice and very helpful.

Dear islascaribe,

Thank you for your review of your stay with us. Your kind comments about our property and staff are appreciated. I want to apologize for the experience you encountered with the smell of smoke in your room. We should have noticed that before you did. I will ensure that our Housekeeping staff is more attentive to this issue. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We certainly hope to welcome you again in the near future!

We spent 2 nights at the Luxe. It is a unique hotel. If you are looking for large resortish accommodations this is not the place for you. If, however, you are looking for great service, pampering with a flare of style than this is the place for you. The Luxe is the place you stay at when you want serenity after a long day of touring. Our room large enough for our family (we travel with our three young boys). The view of the city at night was spectacular and the extra touch they put into our stay were touching. We mentioned to a staff member that our son was celebrating his birthday and on our send day, we found a lovely birthday note from the staff. The pool is private and quiet, a perfect place to just relax and bathe in the California sun. THey have nice plush lounge chairs with terry covers and a towel rolled on each one. The food and bar service at the pool was cordial, polite and attentive. My wife scraped herself while at the pool and the staff were quick to come to her with a band-aide. It seems that someone from on high at the Luxe has made service a priority and it shows and is appreciated. It was apparent from the moment we arrived to check in from the valet to the reception to the cleaning staff.

During our stay, we took advantage of their spa, their gym, and enjoyed the relaxation and quiet.

The beds were comfy and the flat screen on the wall was nice. What can I say, we had a great vacation and we have the Luxe to thank for it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room upstairs in the building next to the pool. The views are amazing.

While staying at The Luxe on Sunset for a business event, my husband phoned the hotel to inquire about sending me flowers for our anniversary. Not only did Joi offer her help, but assisted in finding the most amazing bouquet of flowers! I was staying at the property for two more days and when it came time to check out, the front desk staff helped me to wrap up the flowers so I could take them home. The Luxe on Sunset is an oasis off the 405 - - not only a great hotel, but outstanding customer service everytime!

I stayed at this hotel while visiting my daughter in Los Angeles -- Santa Monica area. Hotel is well appointed, staff is friendly and accommodating and rooms are spacious
However the biggest problem I found was their parking policy. Not only do they require that all parking to be valet ( no self parking), they also charge $25 per day for parking!! This was not explained in any of the material I received either when booking the room ( used Expedia to book the rooms) NOR was it explained at check in. So, 3 days later when I went to check out, I found an additional $75 dollars added to my charges!
Also if you have a choice, do not book your room in the spa area but remain on the ground level. It is very inconvenient to travel to and from the spa area to the main part of the hotel.

Dear Judy K,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent visit. We appreciate your comments about the property and the staff. I would like to take this opportunity to address your observations about the parking. We are a "valet only' property so that we can secure our lots/spaces for guest use only, not local traffic. Also, our team monitors all the vehicles ensuring that they are safe and secure 24 hours a day. I can assure you that we set our valet charges as the lowest in the area as valet only properties are very common in urban areas. I do recognize the fact that this was not brought to your attention at check in. The registration card clearly states the overnight charge and I will use your experience to train the team on making sure that they also note it verbally. We do not want our guests to feel as if there are hidden charges.

Thank you again for letting us know how we can be better. I do hope that you will join us again in the future.

Stayed here with my boyfriend for two nights in May 2013. Hotel is based on a busy street and the sign to the entrance of the hotel isnt that easy to see, we ended up driving past a few times looking for it! Rooms were very spacious, hotel has two buildings both just two floors high, all rooms have a little patio with chairs and a table. Opera Music plays outside quite late which we could hear with the patio door closed which I found a little annoying! Our room had two double beds, we had a large TV with cable. Bathroom was a little pokey, bathtub was tiny but room was huge. We ate at the restaurant which had lovely free bread and hummus and olive oil dip oooo nd was reasonably priced. On leaving the restaurant it was minute walk outside back to our building so we got offered a lift the golf buggy which was fun. On our second night the room service left us little chocolates on the pillow too. pool area was lovely especially at night where it was all lit up with little fairy lights and had large sun loungers.

Overall a nice hotel, about a 20 minute drive to the center of LA with all the tourist attractions. I wouldn't stay here without a car, parking was valet and cost $16 a night.

Room Tip: We stayed in the spa building which was quieter and away from the restaurant and bar but close to th...

My husband booked us a suite here for 3 days, it was wonderful. The staff were all really friendly and the service was great. Our room overlooked the pool which is heated and a great little sun trap. You'd never guess it's so close to the freeway as it's all so quiet and peaceful. We had some noisy neighbours unfortunately for one of our nights there and the walls were really thin but over all a great stay, would love to go back. Definitely recommend the Belwood Bakery just down the road- best sandwich I've ever eaten.

Great staff, they listen and go out of there way to help you.
Clean and great location. Not the Ritz but you'll be happy here.
Beds are great large rooms and if you can ask for a balcony room overlooking the pool.
