We stayed here for 2 nights on a July 4th weekend. As a member of their loyalty program, we were able to snag their BOGO night promotion. So, value wise, it was well worth it.
Check in time was 3 PM, and we arrived around 5ish. No one was at the Valet when we arrived, so we had to wait for a few minutes before someone noticed us and greeted us. Not a good start, I must say. But since the Valet guy was so nice, I let it go.
Check in took literarily 1 second. We went up to the check in desk, they asked for our name, we didn't have to wait, our room keys were already waiting. Again, we got certain perks for being a member. I highly recommend signing up for this. I'm a member of a few hotel loyalty programs, but so far, I must say, Omni has the best perks for their members, which include complimentary internet, two complimentary beverages each morning delivered to our room at requested time.
We got *almost* everything we requested for: extra pillows, extra towels, extra hangers, slippers, high floor, etc etc. One thing they didn't get right was we had requested for New York Times, but got the local paper instead. Although the Mr. wasn't happy about it, it wasn't a big deal to me. Speaking of slippers, we only received one pair, even though it's indicated there would be two people staying. Again, not really a huge deal.
The room was a good size. The bathroom was quiet big too: a tub and standing shower--not sure if this was available in all rooms. We had stayed here previously and we only had a tub in the room.
While it's a nice comfy room, it does show its age quiet a bit. The sofa (see picture) in the room looked really old and dirty. Perhaps it's the color that makes it look unattractive.
The TV was one of those tube-kind which I don't see in hotels this caliber anymore. It's not a big deal really, except the remote control needed to be replaced. We had to really push down to get it to register. It was a real problem, when we were checking out. We always opt out for TV check out whenever it's available. They didn't have a keyboard so we had to use remote control to type in our email address for the receipt to get sent to us. It took me about 5 mins to get one email address typed in.
The Mr. had a chance to use the Fitness center. Good machine selections, although he had trouble with the TV turning off by itself a couple times.
One thing that really annoyed me personally was on the first day, the room service that kept on knocking on our doors even though we had the privacy sign up.
Location wise, it's not really that close to anything except concert halls. But again, it's very difficult to navigate around LA without transportation, so it's not really the hotel's fault. Just warning to people who may not be familiar with LA that this hotel is not a walking distance to anything exciting. If you do drive, be aware of the $30/night valet parking charge.
Generally, everyone was friendly. No one really went out of their ways to do stuff for you, but they're all friendly enough that you didn't feel bad for asking if you happened to need something.
Overall, it was a very nice stay. Despite minor annoyances we experienced, it really was almost a perfect stay.
