We had a very pleasant five-night stay at the Omni. We found the staff to be exceptional. The front desk staff was helpful and professional, the concierge provided great advice, and the bell staff was so attentive I don't think we touched a door entering or leaving the hotel in five days.

The room was great and extremely quiet. The bed was very comfortable.

We were also very impressed with the breakfasts at the Omni, which were typically expensive for hotels but very good and generous.

Some people have noted that there isn't much to do in downtown LA, but we found plenty of restaurants and nightspots within six blocks. It takes a little walking or cabbing, but there are nice restaurants, bars and lounges nearby including Seven Grand, the Daily Grill, the Elevate Lounge, and the lounges at The Orchid, The Standard and the Biltmore.

The Omni is highly recommended if you're looking to stay downtown.

I love the Omni.

From my experience, it's the best hotel in downtown LA, better than the Hilton Checkers or the Biltmore. The rooms are very nice, the staff are awesome.

There's even a Starbucks on-site. And plenty of great restaurants within walking distance (e.g. Nick and Steph's).

This was second stay at Omni. First stay was in September 2007. On both occasions I enjoyed it. Good clean room, discrete but warm service. It's a bland hotel but there is a good feel to the place architecturally - even though it is not special there is good natural light, layout seems sensible - more like an apartment block than a hotel. Also the staff are not sycophantic. Fitness Room is great, didn't use the pool. Car parking is a rip-off but you can park overnight in any of the local places including Pershing Square for much less $ and walk two blocks. Great location for the Gehry, MOCA, LA Phil and so on. I have also stayed at the Westin Bonaventure and the Orchid Hotel in downtown and this has the best all round mix of atmosphere, comfort and amenities.

We stayed at the Omni the weekend of February 8th for the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. Here are a few of our comments:

Transportation: You can take a Super Shuttle from the airport, just go outside by the taxi area and look for the guys in the red and blue jackets. The ride is only $15 per person. On the way back we took a cab ($42 flat rate plus tip) because we were in a rush, but the shuttle is also available from the hotel. We also took the metro (located a few blocks from the Omni) to Hollywood which was a little scary, I would definitely not take it after dark but is a cheap way to get around.

Service: My husband and I both agree that we have never experienced such remarkable service as at the Omni! They are unbelievably helpful, friendly and professional. We never stood in the lobby for more than 1 minute without someone politiely asking to help! They were super helpful with any question or request we had. EXCELLENT!

Rooms/Hotel Quality: The lobby is beautiful and the hotel is overall extremely clean and well kept. Our only complaint was the lack of counter space in the bathrooms (pretty tight for 2 people and all of our toiletries/hair dryer/etc..) But the bed is wonderful and comfortable and the rooms are very attractive. There is no refrigerator (only the mini bar) so we had to put our wine over ice which was fine.

Dining/Location: We only ate at the Grand Cafe at the hoel for breakfast which was very good. We ate dinner at the restaurants in the Plaza which is adjacent to the hotel, both of which were very nice (steak restaurant was more expensive but good). There are also several stores in the plaza to buy snacks, coffee (Starbuck's) etc... which is convenient. We heard that room service was also excellent, but was a little on the pricey side.

Overall we would strongly recommend the Omni, a lovely place to stay!

My two adult sons and myself stayed for just one night at the Omni. The check in, after doing the on line checkin, was great! Everything including my breakfast slips and room key were in an envelope with my name on it ready to go. The room was perfect and very comfortable. The staff was very helpful as we wanted to walk to Staples Center for a concert and they told us the safest and quickest way to go. The breakfast the next morning was my only complaint. We had a total of nine people, six of whom had stayed at other hotels in the area, that all arrived to eat together. The buffet was awesome! The food ordered off the menu was above average but the SERVICE was HORRIBLE! I had to leave the table, after requesting a coffee refill four times, to find someone who would bring us more coffee. (it was our FIRST refill, not fourth or fifth) Another one from our party also had to leave the table to obtain MINIMAL service. I own a restaurant, and tend to be sympathetic to overworked food servers, HOWEVER, this was not the case here. No more than six other tables in use in the entire restaurant, and our server stood talking to other staff for over twenty minutes while we waited. The room and the hotel is fabulous. Don't expect much from their breakfast service
