I can't even begin to tell you how right the last 2 reviews of this hotel are! My husband and I kept saying that something was missing in this uber-trendy hotel and it was the customer service. (And we were trying to figure out what cost us $7 at the mini bar. Thanks Papa for letting us know you get charged for the coffee! I had NO idea!!) The concierge, the front desk and even the bartenders and cocktail waitresses really gave the impression they couldn't be bothered with you. The waitresses will make you wait for your $15 drinks while they finish talking and talking...and talking to each other. I asked the front desk for turn down service when I found out a colleague was getting it with free VOSS water AND cookies and I'll I got was a blank stare and a stammer that they don't do that. After more questioning I finally had someone come up to take care of it. And the staff does not hesitate to tell you when they don't agree with management about the decor (not the best idea to vent to guests about your boss's sense of style!) To be fair though, anyone who does manual labor at the hotel is great! Maids, parking attendants, repair guys were super nice.
Don't believe the hype of the brightness of the halls in the website pictures either. It's as dark as can be and for a woman who even thinks to wear heels on the super slippery tile floors, be prepared to walk with caution! If you're not in the "basement" as the prior reviewer called it, you feel like there are very few people around. Hotel floor plan is really off, odd and uninviting.
Do yourself a favor, stay at the Renaissance Hotel around the corner next door to the Kodak Theater. You'll get more for your $$
