The Roosevelt is amazing.
I usually stay at The Standard downtown, but they were all booked up this trip. I had been itching to try the Hollywood Roosevelt for awhile now, and they did not disappoint.
*Just so you have a bit of background on me, I am not a "hipster". I like hotels with style and personality. I don't drink or party (out of all the times I have been to The Standard - never once visited the famed rooftop bar). I used to work in hotel management and I am very picky about service. That being said, I am a little iffy about these online review sites. If I am having a terrible stay, I prefer to take it up with the hotel management directly, at the time of service, instead seething about it later. But if a hotel is truly great, I do think they deserve a public shout-out. My public shout-out to The Roosevelt is as follows:
First and foremost, the hotel is simply gorgeous, a true balance of old and new California. There is a lot of history to this place, and they did a great job of preserving the historical aspects and sprucing it up at the same time. The courtyard-like lobby is stunning.
Our room was perfect, clean, comfy, cozy. Loved the Kiehl's products in the room.
Because we didn't dine or drink at the hotel, I cannot speak to the service in the restaurant or bars. The front desk, bellmen, valet, and housekeeping were all superb however. Warm and welcoming but not too stuffy. The front desk helped with my many queries and were quite friendly and knowledgeable.
This frequent traveler will definitely be back.
