Arrived at this hotel at midnight after a flight from Alaska. Hoped that what I had read up about this hotel it would be so interesting to see where all the famous people and the Oscars were first presented and history.
What a disappointment, the staff were non-chalant and uncaring. The first room they showed us was so small we asked for an upgrade which we got. We only stayed a night as we were to carry on with our journey, which was good. The staff were not very helpful at all when we asked for brochures about what to see and places of interest. They gave us a tatty photocopied map and a list of things. Other places we stayed had at least a free book of all the attractions. We heard after we had booked here that it was in a dirty area and tried to change but were unfortunately locked in to the itinerary. We placed our luggage in the bell boy's locker when we vacated the room and went to explore. When we got back to the hotel to catch the shuttle back to the airport we could not find the bell boy and it took several minutes to find someone to get our luggage. The shuttle was late to pick us up also and it was a rush to the airport. At the airport it was terrible, with the checking of the luggage as everything had to go through xray machines, unlocked. We booked out luggage in and then had to take it back to this xray machine. We stood at least for half an hour even more to get through this. We had not much time to get onto the plane for our next destination.
I think that the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is a bit of a dump, even though it is being refurbished. All the things that I had read up on that should have been there had been removed somewhere else. What a disappointment.
