“Good option for a Hollywood visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013 via mobile

Good size room, helpful staff, reasonable priced bar (food is good price but I didn't eat here so can't speak to quality, but I doubt it's dreadful). Decent outside swimming pool. 5 minute walk to Hollywood Boulevard, right at Autry Place. Also very close to Hollywood Bowl. Excellent wifi (well done Hilton, you consistently get this right) Really safe bet. But parking charge (valet only here) is excessive at $32 for open lot - go next door for covered parking at $20.

Arrived late from the East Coast and found the hotel to be clean and quiet. Only stayed for one night but found the staff friendly and helpful. Had a room in back of hotel so there was no street noise. Plenty of room to put suitcases for 4 people. The room and bath were both a good size. Easy walk to Hollywood Blvd. and Starbucks.

This was a great central location with comfy beds and friendly service. Housekeeping was excellent and amenities and services were good. Downside is the traffic and parking but that's to be expected in this area.

Okay, I was here for work, not touring Hollywood so my review may be tainted. I was not particularly interested in going to Hollywood boulevard and seeing all of that. If you are, you can certainly walk there from the hotel. There is a lot of traffic on highland ave which made it difficult to turn into the parking lot if you are coming from the south, like from sunset blvd like I was. I found it easier to take 101 north a bit and come south on Highland to make a right into the parking lot.24 hour Valet is your only option here, $32 per night. The hotel staff are very friendly. The restaurant is okay, not a huge selection but they try hard to please. Nice workout room, nice pool area. I tried the hot tub but it wasn't very hot, maybe I didn't know how to activate the jets or something. The housekeeping does a good job but sometimes took all day to clean the room. I was on the 6th floor facing the pool, very quiet and comfortable. Overall, the hotel was very nice, it was just a chore for me to get in and out of the parking lot, so I felt kind of trapped. But I was also working really long hours and didn't have the energy to go out and find restaurants nearby. Parking is a problem all around this area.

The team at the Hilton Garden Inn Los Angeles / Hollywood thanks you for rating us excellent during your stay here in April, we are glad you raved about our friendly staff.

With all of the Los Angeles business travelers that stay at our hotel it is true that the main street gets busy. The good news is that our location provides plenty of options if you want to stay in and enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. You can get some fresh air at our lovely outdoor pool, order room service, grab some snacks at our in house 24 hours Pavillion, or read some books in our “library”, or visit the nearby restaurants or shops. Next time you're here, stop by the front desk and ask for directions and suggestions.

Thank you for staying with us and we hope you return soon to stay with us.

I stayed here in April to attend a conference in Los Angeles. Upon arrival, the valet greeted me and was very friendly. Parking is $32/night/valet only but you can go in and out as needed. The front desk staff was friendly, especially Anthony the manager-on-duty. The front office staff was quick and knowledgeable about the area. The hotel is in good condition, both public areas and the rooms. My room was in top shape, except the molding was missing in the corner near the bed (which looked kind of tacky.. because the room was in great condition otherwise). Bed was very comfortable. The thermostat is weird and was difficult to operate. They need to place instructions in the room on how to operate it.

The cons: the in-house restaurant. This is a limited service operation with just a few tables where the one server on duty is basically the only staff member you'll see there. They need a host/hostess to help seat people. The server seemed annoyed that I came in around 9:15 p.m. even though service went until 10 p.m. He greeted me with, "do you want a table or not?" I had to ask for a napkin (really?). I constantly felt like I was being scolded by my dad lol. He became nicer throughout the evening but it was as though I was bothering him for being there. Not exactly a great experience. I will say that the food quality was excellent and the menu is reasonably priced. But because of that experience, I probably won't eat there again and dropped a star from the overall rating.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the poolside if you're sensitive to traffic noise.

Stayed here the week of the Oscars and was surprised to find a room. It was a great time to be at this location and see the building of the sets used - all within walking distance. The staff was professional and extremely helpful. I was having problems printing a boarding pass in the business center and the gentleman at the front desk went above and beyond to help me. The rooms were clean and everything you expect from a hilton branded hotel. The only thing annoying was the difficulty with which you enter and exit the hotel due to LA traffic. This is not an easy place to access. And while I'm not a fan of valet parking, the staff were all great.

Staff was friendly, hotel was nice and clean. Beware of the rooms facing Highland Avenue! Traffic noise disturbs your sleep no matter what. Luckily we could change to the room facing the garden easily and after that no problems. Situates on a walking distance to Kodak theatre, Hollywood Boulevard, etc. Close to Universal studios, taxi easiest and not expensive way to go.

Room Tip: Take a room facing the garden.
