“Excellent customer service, nice walk to the Hollywood Bowl”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

This hotel was a good choice for a place to stay close to the Hollywood Bowl. Even though the parking attendants were very friendly, it seemed excessive to pay $30 to park at the hotel. The only other option is to pay about $10 per day about 3 blocks away and haul your luggage to the hotel. We had a quiet and comfortable room facing the back of the hotel (not the very busy street in front of the hotel). The staff were all exceptionally friendly. For a morning walk, we walked about 15 minutes down Highland to the Walk of Fame, which seemed a sad way to honor Hollywood stars on such a grubby street; we just turned around and walked right back. It was about a 25 minute pleasant walk to get into our seats at the Hollywood Bowl. The restaurant food was okay. We really appreciated the very convenient and close access to Highway 101.

Room Tip: For a quiet room, ask for a room facing the back of the property.

Stayed here to visit relatives on a hot August weekend. This Hilton is just up the street from the center of the Hollywood Blvd tourist industry-the sidewalk stars, etc. You can walk easily to there. In fact, you don't want to drive around here unless absoultely neccessary. It is crazy with traffic, especially when there is a concert at the Hollywood Bowl 2 blocks away. There is only Valet parking at this place, and you can see why. This is an ok Garden Inn, no doubt a converted older property. So, if you are used to the newer Garden Inns, this one is a little different. Nice overall look to the lobby, bar and dining area. The staff was very friendly and helpful, more so than you might expect in LA. Clean rooms, clean bathrooms, new TV's, good AC system. Not sure if internet is free-I know it was if you are HH.
It was a little noisy, not more so than other places. A good Fitness room. Did have a glitch on Saturday night- a false fire alarm! The one complaint I have is the dis-organized Breakfast service. It was crowded, but you would think that would be a known factor for this area-we could not even get a waiter to our table, no one seemed to know where to sit or how to order. Tip- walk down 3 blocks to Hollywood & Highland and eat at Mel's Diner-now that place is cool, and knows how to serve breakfast!
All in all, a nice place to stay for your Hollywood vacation.

This hotel is on the busy Highland Avenue but not to far of a walk up Highland is the Hollywood Bowl. Rooms were clean a little on the small side. Valet parking is $30.00. Had dinner limited menu but the food was good and tasty. Got 25% off the bill by showing the concert tickets. The window air conditioner unit was annoying in the room could not figure out how to shut it off on all night. The toilet flushed poorly.

Recently stayed at this hotel after our 2 week holiday in the States. The hotel is clean, and convenient to main attractions in LA . Staff are friendly, hotel rooms are clean and quiet. There is a microwave & small bar fridge in the room, which is convienient if you don't want to eat out. One station away from Universal Studios, and walking distance to Hollywood Blvd. I have been to LA three times, and this is one of the best hotels that I have stayed in. There is an outside swimming pool & Spa. $30 Valet Parking fee. You can also take the pubilc transport to the Dodger Stadium. Free Shuttle from Station to Stadium if you have baseball tickets.

The service at the HGI LA/Hollywood is as good as any Hilton property where I've stayed. Front desk staff were helpful and friendly and restaurant staff seemed to actually enjoy their job and it showed in the service. While the lobby is small and rooms seem a little smaller than many HGI's, given the location this is not that surprising. The pool was clean and well maintained, the hot tub was hot, the food was above average, and the hotel overall was very clean and well maintained.

The $30 valet parking is pricey, and with no self-parking available is definitely a minus. The location right on a heavily trafficed street made rooms on the street side a bit noisy. These are really the only two cons from my visit.

Location is great. Easy walking distance to the weirdness of Hollywood Blvd, rougly 3 blocks from Grauman's, a nice shopping/eating mall that abuts the Dolby (formerly Kodak) and the Hollywood Bowl. Less than 10 minutes to Universal Studios and convenient to Mulholland Dr for some great views of the basin to the south and San Fernando valley to the north, and 15 inutes or so to La Brea tar pits and Rodeo Dr.

All in all, a great place to stay for sightseeing and entertainment.

Room Tip: For quiet, ask for a room on the pool side.

We stayed at this hotel recently and were very impressed by the value, location, cleanliness, and in particular the service from all of the staff we dealt with. We were there for five nights and were made to feel right at home. Its just a five minute walk from Hollywood Bvd but far enough away to get away from the busy strip. Its also just around the corner from the Hollywood Bowl (5 minute walk) and a very short cab ride to Universal Studios. We were given a room at the back of the hotel overlooking the pool and it was really quiet. The hotel appears to have been recently renovated and is really nice. The pool is small but nice and there's plenty of lounge chairs and shady areas to get out of the heat. We would gladly stay at this hotel again.

It was my very first time in LA. The location is great to go to Hollywood Blvd, or Universal Studios - and even Mulholland Drive ;)
Room were comfortable, quiet and clean, i was on the 3rd floor, on the pool side (not the street side).
Valet parking is for 30$ fee, you can find cheaper around, but here your car will be available 24/24.
Restaurant was great (but we only got buffet breakfasts there).
