“Decent choice for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

If you are visiting LA on a budget, this hotel should definitely be considered. For around $70, you get a clean place to sleep. Amenities are limited and the property is older, but management makes up for it with good service and cleanliness.

The room itself is pretty small. They are updated with flat-screen TVs and the Wi-Fi worked well. The furniture and carpet definitely showed some wear, but everything was clean. One interesting thing about this hotel is that you have to put your room key in a slot when you get in the room to turn the power on. When you leave the room and take your key, it shuts the power off.

The parking lot is small, but there is a spot for every room. The entire parking lot is visible from the front office so that makes it a bit more secure.

Rodeway Inns don't offer breakfast, but there was free coffee. I saw one vending machine (drinks only), but there are plenty of convenience stores in the area.

Overall, this is a decent choice for those visiting LA on a budget.

I really liked this hotel because it is very cheap and oh so worth your money. We stayed for a week in this place and every day the staff see to it that the place is clean. If you are looking for a nice place to stay near LA then this is it!

This is a very well run small motel, not far from the PCH exit of the 110 Harbor freeway. Our room decor was a little tired, but the room itself was larger than expected and spotlessly clean. The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom had marble flooring and a good shower within a bathtub. Add in air con, a full size fridge, small microwave and a sizeable TV with HBO, free parking plus free WiFi and morning coffee, and to me this seems a great deal. Our upstairs room (210) was surprisingly quiet, and the manager and reception staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. I'd disagree with the reviewer who said the motel is directly onto the sidewalk - like most motels it's at a right angle with the road/sidewalk, and the front reception office appeared to be staffed 24/7. I felt completely safe there. In addition to nearby restaurants (burger, Chinese, Mexican, Thai, coffee shops, etc) there are 2 supermarkets and a pharmacy within a mile, and a 20-screen multiplex less than 3 miles west on PCH. Harbor freeway northbound gives easy access to Downtown LA, including the major sport stadiums, the Natural History and Space Museums, and the Disney Concert Hall/theatre district. Going south it's about 3 miles from San Pedro (cruise ship terminal and site of the battleship Iowa).

Room Tip: There's no elevator so avoid upstairs if you have mobility issues.

I booked this motel because of great reviews about this motel, and after staying there for a night, I still do not understand why people over rate this one. I would not come back and not recommend this place for family with kids or solo. Yes, it looks clean and great location to LAX airport, and LA downtown, but it is sooo exposed to side walk, just steps away from side walk of Pacific Coast Highway (which is a wide street, not high speed freeway) where it seems that a passerby can kick a thin door of the room and it is wide open. Next to it is Penguing motel with such a run down sign.

Okay, no breakfast or pool or work out room. Who cares?! Room was spotless. Bath is smallish but has been updated with a granite cabinet top, granite floor and tub surround. They have Ethernet and wifi. Very comfy bed, microwave and small fridge. Inside the small closet was an iron and ironing board. I seldom need one, but this time I was thankful it was there. This place is 2 story, so I did hear someone walking around above, but no sounds after ten. There is a McDonalds and a Jack N the Box within a block. Only one extra outlet for your devices unless you unplug the lamp on the desk. We had Room 101 which was very quiet. We paid $69 plus tax.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from street noise. If you don't mind walking up steps, get a room on the secon...

The manager is very kind and helpful. The room was basic, but quite clean with a new HD tv with a good variety of channels. It is clear that the property is well kept and maintained. About 20-30 minutes from downtown but easily accessible to all points in the greater LA area including LAX. Several food/shopping options in close proximity. With many overpriced options in the area, this was a welcome respite. If you simply need a clean room with few frills and none of the extra amenities that you probably won't use anyway (though there is free coffee in the AM!), then this is a solid choice for a value conscious traveler.

Customer service was top notch. Room was very clean and great value. I even got a military discount. The clerk was also very kind and he even told me to check out late since I got there super late. Thank you for honest and kind service.
