This hotel was great!
The furniture in all of the rooms is updated, with very modern bathrooms. I'm really picky and the only thing I noticed was that the carpet was a little worn, but nothing to complain about! The beds and the bathroom were great!

Every room has a balcony, ours had a great view of downtown LA.

The pool and patio area seemed great, we didn't get to spend enough time there though!

Our only complaints, the valet and parking is kind of a mess and it took a little while to get a cab.

Keep in mind that LA is not really a walk around city, so you have to drive or take a cab pretty much everywhere. The hotel is located right by a huge shopping area and a short cab from the Rodeo drive area and Sunset strip.

All in all this is a great hotel and we would go back in a heartbeat! FYI, we got a great deal on this hotel through Priceline which made it even better!

The physical plant is very lovely - public areas, pool, etc. - but:
- I stay in Westins several times a month and usually the service is very good. For a "luxe" hotel and for a Westin, the staff at this property was very rude and unhelpful. Examples:
- Someone calling herself a "sales manager" was incredibly snobby and snippy with me when I asked her a very simple question. She had chin length straight blondish hair. Look out for her.
- I went to the pool towel stand, which was empty of towels. Two people were standing behind the counter, a woman in uniform and a man in a suit. I asked them both where I could find towels. They both just stared coldly at me and didn't respond. I guess it was beneath them to answer a very standard and justifiable question.
- Some of the valets were incredibly cold and snobby, as if they were movie stars and I had dared to approach and ask for an autograph. I was driving a very expensive car, and I tip extravagantly, so it wasn't on that basis. I have no idea what their problem was. The only exception that I recall was a very sweet, older Asian gentleman, who was very polite and helpful. The worst was one of the valets in tails and top hat, an older man who bore a slight resemblance to Victor Garber. He treated us as if we were filthy street urchins who had stuck our fingers in his food.

Also, the heavenly bed here was the least heavenly of all the Westins I've stayed in. The mattress was not especially comfortable at all.

We spent three nights at this lovely hotel, and had a great stay. However, there is significant construction happening across the street, so if you do not get a room facing the ocean, your view and quiet will be destroyed.

We had booked two king beds rooms, but, when i said we did not want construction views, we had to get two rooms with two double beds. Supposedly, the king rooms all face the construction--and when I did see into one, it looked nightmarish. ROMANTIC STAYS BEWARE if a large bed is crucial to your enjoyment.

However, our spacious balconies had an excellent view of the hills, west LA, santa monica, and off to the pacific horizon. FANTASTIC for ocean breezes!

The check-in process was smooth and friendly, and the valet service is excellent---efficient and fast. The rooms were clean, with comfy beds and nice bathrooms (including double-headed showers and decent (but not super-spacious) bathtubs.) The internet service in-room is very fast, and gives you a genuine 24 hours for 10 dollars. There is wireless in the lobby as well.

Room service was fast and efficient, and Breeze, the on-site restaurant, is delicious. Many of the items are organic, with free-range and hormone-free meat and veggies grown in their dedicated garden, cooked fresh. It's very pleasant to dine outside on the patio, too.

All and all, I would definitely come back, but only if I was assured I would not face the construction--not until it's done.

I was expecting this hotel to be very classy given most of the write-up's I read and what with the price they charge here. I stayed here for 5 nights and by the 2nd night I could not wait to get out of there. It was a string of disasters basically.

I am not usually one to complain, but I ended up being a regular at the concierge desk several times a day. I had to move rooms the first night due to construction across the road. I was placed in a room on the other side of the hotel which was not much better.

The key I was given for the fridge did not fit and it took 3 attempts and visits to the concierge to get this sorted out.

I had a telephone line in my room which was not working for the first 3 days and no-one could figure out why. It turned out the previous occupant had a bar placed on the phone line which was not taken off after their stay.

The 3rd evening I had a couple walk in on me whilst I was dining. The hotel had double booked my room and reception made several phone calls to my room asking what I was doing in there.

On my last evening I had no less than 6 or 7 phone calls and 2 knocks at my door asking what time I would be checking out the next morning as well as housekeeping under the impression I was checking out that evening for some reason and wanting to service my room.

This hotel is definitely 'never again' and considering it is Westin it was a very disorganised and unprofessional to say the least - especially for a business based guest. The hotel also needs a refurbisment, though they claim it had one recently. It was very outdated and rooms had a musty smell.

I enjoyed a lovely weekend at the Westin Century Plaza when I came to LA to see the King Tut Exhibit. With my SPG Gold membership, I was upgraded to a lovely suite with a view of the pool and a hint of the Pacific Ocean. All rooms however enjoy the comforatable beds and contemporary bathrooms. I would have liked turn-down service or twice daily housekeeping, but the staff was happy to supply extra towel and a robe on request. The location of the hotel is superb--close to Beverly Hills and shopping. The pool is nice in the morning--but the afternoon sun is blocked by the neighboring MGM building. The spa looked nice--but they were booked up for treatments--my fault for not planning ahead. I had lunch and dinner at Breeze-- both very pleasant-- and room service was prompt and acurate. I had no problems with the valet parking--as I would call ahead for my car from the room. Overall-- a nice stay and i would return.
