I got my reservation through Priceline and was very pleased with this hotel, especially for at $136 a night. At check-in, I casually mentioned that I was a Starwood Preferred Guest member (which I am) and was promptly upgraded from the 11th floor to the 18th floor and received free use of the health club/spa facilities. Although the construction did not wake me the first day I was there, it was still loud if I sat on the balcony or even opened the sliding glass door. I asked to be moved and the staff was very accomodating. The room was large and nicely furnished. The bathroom was also very nicely equiped. This is definitely a four-star hotel and worth the price (whether Priceline or Expedia). Just ask for the western (back) side of the hotel and enjoy peaceful mornings and beautiful sunsets.

We stayed from Nov. 12-18. Rooms were small, but large enough for a rollaway (at no charge). The construction across the street started around 7:15am and ended promptly at 5pm, so it did not bother us. I had my wife and two children (ages 12 and 10), so we ate most meals across the street in the open-air mall. There are plenty of places to eat, and a well hidden grocery store. I never saw any signs or advertisements, but found an average grocery store located under the mall in the parking garage. The hotel was convenient to the Blue Bus Stop (Santa Monica Bus), and the Metro Buses (both within a block of the hotel). There is also a Hertz rental car agency in the lobby. We rented a car and were pleased to find that it could be dropped with the parking attendant even after the agency was closed. We did notice that food trays and used linens often stayed in the hall all day, but everything else was clean. The pools are heated and plenty of towels were provided so swimming was good. We also called the desk twice (once for a toothbrush, and once for pillows), and found that we were served very fast. There was an $8 bar charge on our bill when we left, but the desk clerk removed it promptly when I explained we did not use the bar.
I would stay here again.

A Dull Place for Snobs

This hotel is located in a dull enclave of buildings in Century City, with nothing of interest in the vicinity. Upon entering, I was startled at how many rich, arrogant snobs there were here and I knew that I would be disappointed. The hotel charges for everything, including the use of the gym ($14) and parking ($27 valet) and other services, where they rip you off. The food is expensive, the employees (except for the maids) are really stuck up. Security has an attitude problem, as they harassed me for being in the hotel (I was wearing jeans!). The hotel itself is hideous, it looks like a thing from the bad 1970's and the rooms aren't very roomy. I found small problems that for an "upscale hotel" shouldn't have been evident, incl mold on the curtain/tiles, no ice bags/tonsils, bad tv remote, stains on the pillows and sheets. I won't be staying here again because I felt uncomfortable and the "snobish" attitude is a big factor, if you dress casual, you'll stand out and have the security think that you just walked in from the street. Boring place, avoid at all costs.

Great room and the bed was amazing. Room service really fast. I found staff friendly. Also had a massage at the spa and it was amazing (80 min was $165).

Westin never lets me down. I am a travel professional and am very particular. This hotel is very nice and the location is fantastic for a Los Angeles visit. The room was smaller than other Westin properties, but the balcony was nice. (Construction across the street was noisy, but that is something they cannot control) Service was a bit off, as our coffee/tea supplies were not replenished and when I called for tea bags and creamer, they brought COFFEE. The bathroom was nice, and I love the mirrors and tile. However, I was disappointed to find that the second showerhead was not working on the "Heavenly Shower". Of course the HEAVENLY BED is just that - STARWOOD has a lock on the beds - with Westin and Sheraton.

Overall, this is a very good hotel to choose for the area, but it is not my FAVORITE Westin - so far that distinction goes to the one in ATLANTA - PEACHTREE.
