“Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms, nice staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

Large hotel for business, modern decor, comfortable beds, clean, nice having a balcony and view outside.

Sara behind the front desk-- THANK YOU. Having someone on the phone and at check in who seems to really care about you, and know how to do their job makes all the difference.

Our 2 night stay was overall disappointing. The hotel is tired, with limited quality facilities. There was no hairdryer in our room, one of our telephones did not work, there was a smell from the basin drain pipe and, incredibly for a hotel of this standard, the bathroom had a shower curtain over the bath!! A small bottle of water in the room was $5, the TV reception was poor.Perhaps the low point in our stay came at 0032hrs on the first night when suddenly our room lights flashed on and we had other people who had a key card, coming into our room. When I raised this with reception the next day, there was an apology, but no action to follow up, and no recording of the event.
The highlight of the stay was when we dined in at Breeze Restaurant on our first night, the quality of the food, value for money and service were excellent.
Plenty of other good hotel options in this area - would not stay here again.

After traveled for 20 hours on a plane, my relatives found out that the hotel had sold their room to somebody else even though they prepaid for 11 nights. They were sent to a hotel 5 minutes away and had to repack then returned the next day. Hotel provided taxi vouchers which no taxi drivers were willing to accept. Hyatt Regency front desk had to pay cash to get the driver to take us instead of waiting any longer, The bell captain at the other hotel had to spend10 minutes to convince another cab to take me back to Hyatt Regency. Why sign up with a taxi company that will not accept them? Don't tell me that we are the first guests who had these experience. It only meant that your hotel is not up to the standard to offer excellent service to your guest. When we checked in, there were other guests who got the same problem. So that means you must have oversold a lot! As a matter of fact, the other guest said that he would never returned. Even the cab driver learned of our story said that your hotel is too greedy by overselling your rooms.
Jose Fuentes, the assistant Front Office Manager, was the one who helped to check in my relatives. Even though he said that he was sorry, you could tell from his facial expression that he did not mean it nor care a bit about the inconvenience brought to my relatives. I drove 3 hours to the airport , then the hotel and had not had dinner at 8pm. I could not believe such a "high class????" hotel would give such a first hand impression to visitors who are a good source of income to the US economy. Even though they did not charge for the night, but that was not what my relatives wanted. They wanted a room where they could check in right away and laid on the beds to relax. Since they prepaid the travel agency overseas, they had to go through the trouble to get a refund afterwards. So I was very upset and asked for some dinner vouchers to compensate for the additional inconvenience. Jose said hastily," You want dinner, let's go to the restaurant now!" He acted as if we were trying to take advantage of the hotel. Come on. Visitors who spent thousands of dollars really want to benefit a meal.
I also cannot believe that the hotel does not have coffee pot in the room and the guest has to request it. We hated that we had to stay dressed up and wait for the delivery. For a lot of people like my husband and myself, the first thing we want when out of bed is to have a cup of coffee. This is especially important to travelers who have jet lag.
Just want to advise other guests not to be fooled by its star rating. It definitely does not deserve it. I give 2 stars for the location close to tourist attraction and the look of the lobby.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Trip Advisor. We apologize that we had to relocate your family to a neighboring hotel. Unfortunately, in very rare cases, this does happen and we do our best to accommodate the guest even while they are at another hotel. I have shared your feedback with upper management to review in more detail. We wish you and your family only the best.

My husband and I returned to the Century Plaza Hotel for the first time in 43 years after staying there on our honeymoon. At that time this was the most exquisite hotel we could imagine. The hotel remains beautiful inside and out with an impressive lobby and pool area. The room was attractive on first appearance but we were very disappointed by a collection of "small" things that we would expect in a room and hotel at this price. We arrived with leftovers from dinner to find that the mini-fridge would charge us for anything we removed to make room for our leftovers. And, there was no in-room coffee maker. We called down and housekeeping did bring us both items. We used the paper cups that came with the coffee maker but housekeeping did not replace them the next day so we had to call for more paper cups. It was very annoying not to have these 2 things included in the room. We were further disappointed by the quality of the linens. The sheets were not large enough for the deep mattress and would not stay tucked in and they had pills found on cheap sheets. the towels were also of poor quality, thin and rough. I would not recommend staying here.

I stayed at this hotel on november 18th, the loby looks very nice but the rooms are very old, broken sheets and towels, also the linen was broken, the carpet had stains, it's a shame because the hotel is great located near beverly hills, century city, etc.
But there are a lot of options on the same price range that are much nicer and well located as well, personally i would not comeback until they renovate.

We were here for military function in December 2012. This is the second year in a row that we have been and have stayed over. The room was beautifully appointed with lovely bedding and a great view. The dinner was not what we were expecting but the dessert more than made up for it. Although the wait staff was very attentive I feel I can put my own bread on my plate and pour my own salad dressing.

The after party in the X lounge was very nice and the staff there are equally attentive.

As we were leaving we noticed we were in the middle of the film shoot for commercial we didn't stay to find out what it was all about but was pretty cool experience nonetheless.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Century Plaza hotel in Los Angeles. We loved having your group at our hotel and hope to see you back every year. What a class act! As for the filming, you might recognize the front of the hotel in a commercial that will appear during the biggest football game of the year. I'm sure you know what we are referring to! Hope to see you again soon.
