“Lovely Hotel, Exemplary Staff, World-class Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

You are greeted with a french macaron and a glass of champagne upon check-in. Before heading to your room you are shown around the lobby where your guide notes the location of the restaurant, bar, fitness facility and spa. You are then directed to the lobby. The valet staff remember your name.

The rooms are not over sized as this is a city hotel, but are luxurious nonetheless. The bathrooms are extremely large and luxurious for a city hotel property. Beds are soft and dreamy.

Each room has travel converters, BOSE Wave Radio w/ Ipod dock, complimentary Wi-Fi, L' Occitane bath amenities, robes and slippers and in room safe.

For a luxury hotel in Beverly Hills, the prices were very reasonable and certainly more reasonable than nearby properties. Service at this hotel is exemplary. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with City views toward the Hollywood Hills. They are a bit quieter than the ones faci...

We used Sofitel as the base for our tourist trips around LA. This included Santa Monica, Hollywood, Six Flags, Universal Studios, Beverly Hills, Paramount Pictures ++. Hotel is located across Beverly Mall, and with a lot of nice restaurants within walkin distance. Area seems very safe and clean.
The staff at Sofitel are one of the better i've ever experienced. No questions or requests were unanswered by very knowledgeable consierge.
Nice restaurant at hotel, and very nice outdoor bar.
Rooms very spacious and everything i expect from high-end hotel room. Our room had a glasswindow from the main-room into the very spacious shower, which we very much liked, but probably not for the more conservative couples or if you're bringing kids ;)

The hotel is not un-pricey, but you could do a lot worse in LA.

Keep in mind: You will need a rental car//(or taxis) no matter where you are gonna stay in LA. Sofitel is no exception.

Stayed at the hotel in September and had a wonderful time!
Checkin was smooth, room beautiful. Clean with plenty of towels, bathrobes and l'occatine amenities!
Bed was to DIE for, so comfortable.
Valet parking was prompt, but a bit steep at $33 per night.
Opposite was the Beverly Centre and a CVS which was useful, found a lovely little cafe about 5 mins walk from the hotel, Kings Cafe and the hop on hop off bus is right outside the Beverly Centre.
Don't bother with a taxi from the airport, we used 'Super shuttle' outside the terminal cost $16 took approx 1 hour but we took in the sights on the way!!
Hertz car hire just 5 minute walk around the corner very quick, take all your booking paperwork as they try to charge for extras tho.
Will be definitely booking this hotel again, if the price is as good as this year!!!

Along with the Chicago Sofitel, the Los Angeles location is a good enough, reliable property. The service is consistently professional, the rooms were adequate, and the gym is phenomenal (one of the best I've seen at any hotel).

But the hotel is letting down it's guard, and there were several notable problems:

1. The restaurant was painfully slow, and the product which I remember being exceptional, has fallen dramatically (think dried out sausage, and practically cold has browns.. and 20 minute waits for coffee in rush periods). Our server was delightfully and painfully apologetic, but even with a huge staff, this restaurant does not seem to be well managed. (And what's with the broken sign on the front of the building? A 5 star hotel usually fixes such visible items quickly!)

2. Crappy internet. Like all Sofitels, you need to pay for the fast internet, and expect slowwww internet if you want it "free". However, even when I paid for the fast internet, it was intermittent, unreliable, and problematic.

3. Priceline. Since Sofitel is one of the few higher end hotels in the area that accepts Priceline, you can see it in the caliber of guests as well as the front desk's service of said guests. You will always diminish your brand when you give it away to some people inexpensively.

4. The swimming pool is *awful*. Tiny, weirdly shaped, and constantly packed - you practically can't assume that you'll be able to use the pool to any level of satisfaction. Especially compared to other properties such as the Roosevelt, the pool here is very disappointing.

Admittedly, as a Priceline guest (I know, I know), I got what I paid for here, as the rate was cheaper than comparable properties. But paying the price I would have to pay on the Internet, I wouldn't choose to stay here again. There are a lot better options nearby.

A great hotel with exceptionally friendly professional staff. Good location with hop on hop off buses outside and a huge new shopping complex opposite. Good variety of quality dining experiences within 5 minutes walk.

Room Tip: Location/floor level probably not an issue as rooms double glazed.

My sister and I stayed at the Sofitel Los Angeles for 2 nights. We had booked in for a 5 night stay but we had a few issues with noise from a screaming baby to parents yelling and noisy partygoers. The hotel staff were very helpful but unfortunately as the hotel was well booked they were unable to move us so we made the decision to move hotels. This is something we have never done before. I never expected that we would be checking out early from a Sofitel. The hotel itself is very nice it is just unfortunate that we had to deal with so many noise issues. They really need to soundproof the rooms better.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the unacceptable noise levels during your recent visit with us. I truly regret that we were not able to find a solution that would have allowed you to remain in the Hotel. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly and in more detail about your experience. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
