“solid place near LAX”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014

For an airport hotel, the place is solid. It is quiet enough to sleep. The shuttle runs all the time and frequently (shared with some other hotels). This hotel has a restaurant and a 24/7 mechano-spot where you can buy sandwiches and wine (if you are jet-lagged and on another time zone). Price is comparable to others

Room Tip: go north or east and you can see planes landing from your window -cool!

Have stayed in many hotels around LAX when transiting. This is a small(er) property around the airport area, however GPS couldn't really help find it - and made us go around in circles. No 24 hour room service was offered, room was decent, but not great, definately seems like a remodeled older property.

Shuttle was not very reliable came around 15 mins late and no ETA from the hotel staff, which is important as most people staying are looking to catch flights.

Big problem was the valet at check in and the security at the hotel, I arrived at 11:30pm and there was only 1 valet staff who wasn't bothered and people were walking in/out at their leisure, it didn't seem very safe to me, and many shady characters walking through the lot and around the outside of the hotel.

Clean, modern and large room, with a refrigerator, nice sink area outside the newly remodeled bathroom. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and the great Bistro in the lobby was the perfect place for a late night supper(many good offerings!) and glass of wine. Although I had to leave early for the 4:20 AM airport shuttle, people were very friendly, and it almost seemed normal to have so many people for a peer-breakfast conversation! Although close to the airport, there was no noise from any planes! A nice, quiet night of sleep.

Good for quick stay over at LAX. Very close to terminals. Busy, however, and valet parking is crowded. Exercise room was a disappointment, with just a couple machines. In-house dining was better than I expected.

Room Tip: Higher floor.

As everybody knows, Los Angeles is massive so we wanted to find a hotel that was centrally located on our recent trip to LA. The Courtyard Los Angeles LAX/Century Boulevard is very close to major freeways, LAX and points of interest around LA. They also provide a shuttle for various destinations although we did not use it. The hotel staff is pleasant with the valet staff going above and beyond. The hotel is clean with nice amenities. The reason I gave a "very good" rating is because the floor we were on (third floor) was very noisy. I believe we were close to a housekeeping storage room so we heard doors opening and closing all night and into the early morning. Perhaps the hotel should consider supplying sound machines to help block out some of the racket!

Room Tip: Do not stay on the third floor as it is way to noisy.

Green Features: My husband and I hung up our towels to reuse but Housekeeping took them anyway. I'm not sure if they have a "reuse" policy.

We have now stayed here on four occasions and have always been perfectly happy with the hotel. The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable. What more can you ask for? We found the bistro quite adequate for breakfast and dinner - it would be nice if it were open for lunch too. The shuttle was usually quite quick. On one occasion, we waited for ages at the terminal. The reception staff were very helpful.

Room Tip: Away from the elevators.

Green Features: These practices were adequate, relating mainly to reuse of towels.

We don’t love chain airport hotels, but we needed one for a few days on this trip, and we were very happy with our choice. First, the place was much quieter than some of the other hotels on the same strip. No weddings, conventions, etc. going on. Our room was clean and spacious, and the front-desk staff helped us with anything and everything, from suggesting restaurants, to retrieving our car - which was delivered by cross-country transport to the wrong hotel - to helping our daughter find an apartment!! The lobby had many amenities which we unfortunately didn’t take advantage of: a kids’ corner with games, etc., a mini-library, even games for grown-ups, so you could happily spend a lot of time there. There’s no restaurant per se (maybe accounting for the lack of big events), but there’s a little “bistro:” a counter where you order and then eat at one of several tables in the pleasant, light-filled lobby, or outdoors if you like. If you order something from the kitchen, they bring it to you. The menu is limited but adequate; if the food were a little better quality, the place would be perfect.

One thing we really liked was the ability to open the windows (yes, there were two of them - unusual for a chain hotel). You can’t open them very far (that must be a building code regulation), but it was enough to let in the nice cool night air. I know we are weirdos, but this is important to us.

Our only other disappointment was a seeming disinterest in recycling or even water conservation in the middle of a drought, but maybe this is typical of LA as a whole.

All in all, we felt at home here and enjoyed our stay very much.

Note: Being set back from the street, the place is easy to miss and then you’re in the jaws of death of the airport. Our cues as we came along Century Boulevard were the Sheraton, then a Subway restaurant, then a fire hydrant, which was at the driveway. If you still miss the driveway, turn right immediately onto Vicksburg and then come in the side entrance.

Green Features: unfortunately, minimal. sure, they tell you to leave your towel on the rack if you don't want it laundered every day, but the sign was tiny and every hotel does that because it saves them money! But you can open the windows, which saves on air-conditioning, and we liked the hotel all the same.
