“Awesome B&B in central Los Angeles”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

This was the first B&B of our honeymoon, and it set the bar really high! It's no surprise this is the #1 B&B in L.A. Do yourself a favor and stay here. Now, for some specifics ....

First, the room is amazing. We had the Terrace Room, which is basically a huge, nicely decorated and comfortable room connected to a large outdoor terrace. It was a little chilly when we were there so we couldn't take full advantage of the terrace, but the setup was awesome and we loved the space.

The hosts, Bob and Ahuva, make the stay. They are awesome. I hope they don't take this the wrong way, but they reminded us of Billy Crystal and his wife from the Princess Bride ... so much energy, extremely outgoing, and constantly picking on each other .. hilarious. They really did make us feel comfortable and welcome in this home.

Breakfast ... delicious. Good, fresh ingredients and lots of variety including fresh fruit, eggs, salad, pastries. My only comment about breakfast is that Bob & Ahuva aren't necessarily the most punctual hosts, so if you're in a hurry or need to be somewhere early, make sure you leave enough time in the morning!

The location is great. The B&B is close (within a 10 or 20 minute drive) of just about everything you'd want to see or do in central L.A. There's also a lot to see and do within walking distance, and it's a nice walk (~5-10 min) through the neighborhood to quite a few restaurants and bars. We found it kind of odd that there didn't seem to be a main strip or area where you could bar hop or walk between restaurants ... everything seemed a bit more spaced out. So before you venture out on foot, make sure you have a plan for where you're going!

A few other random comments ...
- Parking was a
breeze .. plenty of street parking, and Bob will give you a tag to hang in the window so you don't get a ticket.
- Free cookies and candy!!
- Use of a separate kitchen, which is nice if you want to make something quick yourself, plus the use of a coffee maker, fridge, etc.

All in all, this was a wonderful stay and I'd highly recommend to anyone traveling in the LA area. Thanks so much Bob and Ahuva for such a great B&B!

Room Tip: Go for the Terrace Room .. the extra outdoor space is awesome.

the Garden Cottage B&B is a wonderful B&B with excellent hosts.
My husband and I stayed in Sept 2012 and had a great time.
Location is handy to many places, safe to leave a rental car on the road, easy to walk to many great restaurants an shopping -all this plus great accommodations too.

The hosts, Bob and Ahuva are genuine, warm and caring people with a keen interest in ensuring your stay in LA is a good one. Plenty of free advice and brochures on offer, with great conversation and humour. Wonderfully delicious breakfasts served...love it!

Would love to stay here again...and recommend to anyone staying in LA - honestly, why even bother with the big hotel chains?

Room Tip: We stayed in The Garden Room...lovely setting to sit in and sip on a wine...

We had the pleasure of staying at the Garden Cottage B&B in the Garden Room for three nights, after a very long flight from Australia. Everything about our stay was perfect and this was by far our favourite accommodation throughout our three week trip to the USA. We are a couple in our mid twenties and the location was ideal for us, easy walking distance to The Grove and Farmers Market, as well as a great mall that has Macy's and plenty of other stores (you can catch the hop on hop off bus here to explore all of L.A). Bob and Ahuva made the stay even better and we are still talking about how amazing the breakfast was each morning! We would highly recommend to all our friends and family :)

Room Tip: The Garden Room was a great option, private entry and plenty of space.

I had never stayed at a B&B before but I was visiting my daughter nearby and didn't want to stay in a hotel. What a smart choice this was. The hosts are warm and fun. They give advice on the area and are available when you have any kind of problem or concern. The room was spotless and charming. I stayed upstairs in the Terrace bedroom. It rained most of my visit but still, having the door open to look out was so nice. Multiple channels on the cable and a very comfy bed. Great towels and amenities, it was perfect. The breakfast was so good that i asked for the same one every day! I spend 5 nights there - I STILL want that breakfast!
Parking was plentiful and easy. (and free)
The only thing that I would warn against is for someone frail to need to climb up onto the bed in this particular room would be a little difficult, it's very high. (but once you're there - wow, so comfy) I will be back!

We stayed here twice, once in June and again in July this year during our vacation, and can thoroughly recommend.Location wise it was superb, better than our accommodation choice on previous visits to LA.Within walking distance to good restaurants, Farmers Market and The Grove. Also a short drive to many other places.
Breakfasts were delicious, and it was a pleasure to chat to other guests around the table! A big thank you to Bob and Ahuva for their hospitality and amusing banter! We would certainly return if visiting the are again.

My husband and I stayed here as part of our 3 week road trip. We only stayed for one night as it was a whistle stop tour of LA before moving up the coast.

We stayed in the little cottage in the gardens behind the main house and it was wonderful. The cottage was spotless and really beautiful.

Breakfast from Ahuva was one of the best I had across the whole 3 weeks, wonderful fresh light ingredients and a perfect way to start the day, all wonderfully served up in our own little cottage kitchen by Bob and Ahuva.

Bob was really helpful and friendly, making the reservations, arranging parking, and checking out were all effortless and he had some good recommendations during our stay.

The B&B is a short walk away from an old market area and easy to find. I would defiantly recommend this place.

Room Tip: The cottage in the garden is wonderfull and only a little extra so well worth treating yourself

We and another couple booked the garden cottage and nearby garden room for a weekend. The combination was perfect--the room charming and spacious; the cottage well equipped, cozy, and the perfect hang-out place. The kitchen and dining area has everything you would want for cooking in pricey West Hollywood. But don't cook breakfast--theirs was wonderful.

The Garden Cottage was nearby the LACMA and Page Museums, The Magic Castle, and a pretty drive through Beverly Hills to the Ghetty. You are ten minutes from 50 restaurants and 100s of shops.

Most important for us, however, was the retreat in the city. Nothing 'hotel' about this place, including the rate. The house and cottage are on a tree lined street of charming homes, and surrounded by fountains and plants. The owners top it all off--personable, witty, accommodating.

All the reviews are true.

Room Tip: Book the cottage. For twenty dollars more you gain a spacious living room, dining area, and terrifi...
