If you are looking for a small,clean,friendly place to stay right
on the ocean in Venice Beach...look no futher!! No elevators, which is what my sister and I were looking for.... casual,beachy,walking distance to everything you would want to experience in VB!! We meet
people from around the world, all ages and all of our comments were "This is the greatest place" So unpretentious, a great view from the sidewalk patio and roof top area. Truly a find, it's not the Hilton... your at the beach, right?? But it does have 5 stars for cleanliness, a quaint, friendly atmosphere and a beach view!!

My sister and I took a road trip to Southern California. We didn't make plans on where we were going to stay, we were going to wing it. When we arrived in Venice, we did not know where to stay, but we knew we wanted to stay on the beach. While driving down the back of the alley by the The Venice Beach Hotel, Greg, the manager, came walking out the back door and we asked where we could stay on the beach. Behold, he said "you are looking at it". He gave us a tour, and we said we'll take it! Greg was great and so is the hotel.

The hotel is an excellent location to the beach (right across the sidewalk), the main strip and restaurants. Bring your walking shoes! The manager, Greg, was very accommodating, pleasant, always walking around with a smile on his face. His personality made you feel really comfortable, he was like a friend! The hotel is very clean and quaint. It even has a computer, thank goodness my work didn't know that! The roof top is a great place to see the view of the ocean and surrounding places, and also a great place to meet other guests.

My sister and I can't wait for our next road trip. We will definitely stop at this hotel again. Thank you GREG for everything. We had a blast! Enjoy, Debbie

As other posts have highlighted, the location of this property is unbeatable. The rooms are small but comfortable with bathrooms, fridge, plasma tv etc. The hotel has a coin operated washing machine and dryer for use and there is 1 computer for use. Continental breakfast entailed tea/coffee and pastries, a usual continental breakfast i.e nothing special or fancy.

The owner is extremely helpful and attentive with anything you require. The roof top is basic but a great place to relax with a couple of drinks as the sun goes down.

The hotel is only a 5 minute walk to the craziness of the Venice Beach stalls etc and a 2 minute walk to Washington Avenue. There is no supermarket within the immediate vicinity apart from a small grocery type store however I guess the aim is to eat out every night anyway. My wife and I hired some bikes for one of the days (I think they were $20'ish dollars each for a full day) and rode down to Malibu.

We caught a bus from Hollywood and it was relatively easy to navigate. We then caught a bus to Union Station which was quite easy too.

As a hotel this is quite decent, but nothing to rave about -- would give it a three. But the location, WOW. Can't get more on the beach anywhere in the U.S., and it is a great beach. Very short walk to Washington Avenue which I think is one of the nicest gathering of restaurants on any beach that is close in to LA. Bit longer walk the other way to Venice Avenue, interesting slice of the American sub-culture, glad not to stay there!

As to the hotel: small room, but comfortable; very clean and nice TV. Walls a bit thin, but neighbors were quiet so this didn't become a problem and the sound of the surf is a big plus. Free computer but no printer. Free parking but not many spots. Free breakfast pretty barebones (walking down to Wash. Ave was our choice). Rooftop deck not much. Beach level patio nice. Making a reservation was impossible, so we walked in and got a good rate.

Would return without question given that the location is unbeatable and the hotel more than adequate.
