Ambala Dhaba looks like a diner with an Indian flavor -- but the food is simply divine! I ate there several times while based temporarily in West Los Angeles, but have enjoyed Indian food in restaurants in London, New York, of course L.A., several other smaller cities, and my home near Geneva, Switzerland ... among these different places, Ambala Dhaba simply has the best and most interesting food.
The food is generously spiced ... which means flavourful-spiced, not hot-spiced, although some dishes are somewhat hot. Unlike many places where it seems like the same 2 or 3 sauces are used for all the dishes, each dish I have tried at Ambala Dhaba is unique. The portions are generous, but the food seems healthy, i.e. not greasy or heavy as Indian food often is.
It's not a place to go if you want a fancy dinner, but a great place to go if you love Indian food and want to eat well.
