Las Fuentes is family owned and operated. They have 3 other locations: Melody's which has a different menu and not as good; Sol y Luna, on Ventura Blvd. in Tarzana which is a bit more upscale and without the selection of Las Fuentes but very good; and Sr. Sol, near Northridge, which is like Las Fuentes.
The food is fresh, using high quality ingredients, well prepared and an exceptional value. The chicken burrito has what seems like a 1/2 pound of white meat, a little smear of beans on the botton of the flour tortilla and that's it. No fillers or sauce. Just great chicken.
I prefer the Mulitas. Ask for them to be well done. The carne asada plate is very, very, very good.
When we have guests who want Mexican food, this is where we take them. An they always want to go back.
Las Fuentes is probably not on the typical tourist route, but well worth the time and effort if you want truly excellent Mexican food. And do not need a touristy experience.
It's also nice that the staff recognizes us as regulars and greets us.
Two of us can have a meal there for about $20.00 including chips and soft drinks.
