Once you cross at the light go left and turn right at sycamore going up the hill. It is a very steep hill so walking in dress shoes or in the dark are not recommended. We suggest calling a cab at the bottom of the hill.
Description: Yamashiro - translated to "mountain palace" - broke ground in 1911 and was completed in 1914 as a residence for the Bernheimer brothers. Housing a priceless collection of Asian treasures, the building was designed as a replica of a palace located in the mountains near Kyoto, Japan. During the "Golden Age" of Hollywood, Yamashiro served as the ultra-exclusive hang-out for the "Club of the Four Hundred": the era's most famous and influential stars and movie moguls. The structure and its grounds served as a boy's military school and later apartments before being acquired in 1948 by the Thomas O. Glover, who discovered the beauty beneath the disrepair and refurbished the space. Currently owned by Thomas Y. Glover, Yamashiro is still flourishing over 60 years later as an Asian-inspired Los Angeles institution.

“This is a must see!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The views at Yamashiro's are amazing! The restaurant is located high in the Hollywood Hills and has amazing views of Hollywood and downtown L.A. The atmoshpere and gardens are also very nice. This is a great date restaurant. The food is really good and the prices are fair for what you are getting.

“Can't Miss Taking Visitors here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

The Views from Yamashiro at night are incredible ! Food is very good and the service is pleasant. Outside there are gardens to stroll in and take great pictures of LA. Restaurant is seated high above Hollywood with views to Downtown and beyond. Bring a camera and try for a window seat.

“Go for the view.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Great View!

Food is expensive and average at best. But hard to go wrong with some Sushi and Drinks while enjoying the view.

There is also a small garden out front that is worth strolling.

“Has it all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

Amazing city views, relaxing atmosphere, an interesting Hollywood history and excellent service and food! I also appreciate the option of wine corkage ($20) and a reasonable valet charge ($8). The Spicy Hot Pot appetizer and Crunchy Chicken apps were a wonderful start, and the entree choices are imaginative and varied. Make a determined effort to leave room for dessert, and then take a walk around the central garden in the restaurant and linger outside to again appreciate the view before asking the valet for your car.
