“Nice choice in Chinatown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013 via mobile

We checked out Yang Chow's on Trip Advisor and saw a lot of great comments about the slippery shrimp. The front desk staff at our hotel recommended as well. The service was a little slow as predicts, but it wasn't painfully so. We enjoyed the hot tea and the piping hot spring rolls to start off. the slippery shrimp was definitely tasty, and the portion was overly plentiful. I couldn't finish it, partly because of the quantity and partly because of the sweet aftertaste. My wife had the spicy tofu, and it had a pleasant zing to it. My son had the beef lo mein, and it was just ok. Overall we enjoyed the food and the experience.

“THEY MAKE AND SELL CHINESE FOOD”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

Best Chinese food establishment in LA, both hands down! Get the slippery shrimp and Yang Chow fried rice with pork, chicken, shrimps, and some other mystery meat. Superfast service, go when you're starving and hot food will arrive in a flash, I promise you. Line can be long, but that's a good thing...nasty food places usually don't have lines or sane people eating in them. Make sure you wear a Christmas sweater when you eat at Yang Chows and bring a gigantic, ravenous, Elvis Presley appetite.

“stick to the spicy items”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

Visited last night with friends. We ordered family style which I think is always more fun in a place like this. Had the Shrimp Toast for the first time, interesting, but not sure I would order again. The dumplings were good, but seemed very “doughy” last night even though we had them fried and not steamed. We all really enjoyed the Slippery Chicken and Szechuan Beef, both house favorites. The Chicken and Snow Peas had little flavor and the Pan Fried Noodles were soggy and also lacked flavor. Overall, a good choice, but stick to the proven favorites based on reviews of others. Parking is hit and miss with room for about 20 cars in back (valet), otherwise on the street or use the underground lot across the street.
