I read about Ca' Brea first, and then discovered that it was nearby, so my mother and I went for dinner on the Christmas Eve this past weekend. They did not have a special pre-fixe menu, but they did have a number of great-looking specials listed. I had a perfect Italian meal comparable with any high-end Italian restaurant around the globe - creamy burrata (mozzarella) with thinly sliced eggplant and four different sauces to start, and then the bigoletti all'aragosta e fruttui di mare (which was essentially a slightly spicy spaghetti di mare) for my main. The burrata was fresh and delectable, and the bigoletti was incredibly tasty - perfectly seasoned and the seafood was fresh and expertly cooked.
Unfortunately, my mother's meal was somewhat less ideal than mine. Her first course was fantastic - the Insalata Tiepida di Frutti di Mare; lots of fresh seafood in a delicious broth. Her main course, however - a special of the night, Risotto di Mare - was somewhat undercooked and lacked a strong flavor.
We ate so much that we didn't have room for desset, unfortunately. The decoration of the restaurant was lovely - interesting modern art on the walls, with lovely dark woods giving the place an easy ambiance. The staff was all very friendly. All in all, it was a very good experience, and I can't wait to return and try their other dishes!
