“If you are in LA, go to the Pantry!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

The Pantry was opened in the 1920's and has NEVER CLOSED since! It's open 24-7 and always a great meal - I've had breakfast and lunch and both were fresh and delicious. The wait-staff are dressed as they were in the 20's and I'll admit are "characters!" There was a line of about 30 people to get into the place, but it moved quickly.

“Overrated!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

More of a nostalgic, historic icon than anything else.

Ordered the ham and cheese omelette, wheat toast, fried potatoes, and OJ.

Ate ate counter, service prompt and indifferent.

OJ never came but was charged for it.

Omelette was large, large chunks of ham were good but cheese very processed cheese-whiz like.
Hash browns were barely browned mush.

Wheat toast supermarket grade, more like a "brown bread" type.

Was here a few years ago, same experience.

Never again.

“Value and atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

There's always a queue - even at 2am, but especially at 1pm. And there is a reason for that: The Pantry is a fun experience as well as providing comforting diner-style calories with plenty of taste, you just know what you're going to get as soon as you take one look inside. Not an ideal destination for the salt-shy, for vegetarians or for those who don't carry cash. Definitely somewhere you'll tell people about though.

“FAST!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

The Pantry is another Los Angeles iconic hole in the wall. I ate breakfast there during a business trip, and what a place. There was a line out the door to get it. I ordered my food, great pricing by the way, and within 5 minutes, everything that everyone at the table had ordered had arrived, literally. The food itself wasn't anything spectacular, but the portions were huge. Decent food, great price, fast service. 4 stars.

“Place to Go If you Fancy A Steak”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

On a recent road trip round America and a 2nd visit to L.A me and my husband were recommended this place by our taxi driver when we landed in L.A from San Francisco. We walked it from the Millenium Biltmore Hotel which took us approximately 25 minutes but boy was it worth the walk, great service and great food. We ordered steak which was huge, if you like your steak then you will love this place. Even the old cashier cubicle was cool where you pay on the way out. Very traditional food in a an old fashioned traditional diner, service and ambiance excellent and great value for money. Well worth a visit.
