“Authentic Italian In Los Angeles”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

You know that you are in a somewhat unique Italian restaurant in Los Angeles, when many of the patrons are speaking Italian with the owner, who is also a cosumate host, although his English is on the weak side and leaves most of the pleasentries to his sons, one of whom is always in attendance.
The restaurant has a standing menu, along with a creative specials page. When we go, we ususally stick with their pasta dishes, which are outstanding, although a little pricy at $28 to $55 (truffles!!) Pizza is fantastic, if you enjoy very thin crust; again, be aware that Pizzas start at $26.
OK, by now you get the picture, this is no red checkered table cloth Trattoria. But, if you enjoy real Italian gourmet fare, and can handle the prices, this is the place to go in LA. If you do decide to try it, make sure you have advance reservations because it is a very popular and busy establishment.

“This is the best Italian restaurant in Los Angeles without doubt!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

Madeo is the only Italian restaurant in LA that has sustained it's quality of food and service over the years. As a regular, I can say that over the last 5 years it has never let me down. They are always packed every night of the week and quite often there is a little wait, even with a reservation. However, the experience is totally worth whatever the wait may be. This is a celeb favorite so don't be surprised to dump into more than one celeb over dinner. Gracious hosts! Love that the owner approaches tables to make sure everyone is happy. This is my favorite restaurant in LA!!!

“Oh come on! You have to go at least once”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Yes it is the haunt of the paparazzi who drop their cameras in disgust when I emerge from a car service or worse, sneer as I pull up in a cab. The food is delicious and oh so rich. The portions are thankfully small so you can enjoy them without too much guilt. It's all about the pasta and sauces here. Cooked perfectly and glistening in the bowl. Over the course of my several dinners, movie stars and moguls have sailed in, and nibbled at the food. The chef/owner will come to your table and treat you like an old friend, while he regales you on his culinary feats. It's just fun and over the top LA.
Go for it!

“best caprese”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Been here twice, both occasions on a weekday and it's packed.
Only 4 stars cause I ordered one of the branzinos one time form the today's special and I was not impressed, but everything else was good, even the desserts (which they have a tray for display so it's easier to pick) were amazing. Eggplant parmesan was really yummy. Best caprese ever! !
