“Primo Cuban Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

No frills, just excellent Cuban fare at all three locations. My fave is the original in Culver City. Best Cuban Chicken outside of Havana. A spirited place with loyal followers. You go, you'll know why.

“A Taste of Cuba in LA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

This is an LA institution and afficianados debate which location is better - Venice is big and crowded La Cienega is small and intimate but I've always managed to get a table; Encino is pretty utilitarian but plenty of room. And the food is fabulous in all three - I'm a HUGE fan of the roast pork with black beans and rice and plantain and pickled onions.

“Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

Excellent service and superb food. I had the roast pork lunch special, which came with rice, the best plantains in the world, and incredible, melt-in-your-mouth black beans. This is a homey, diner-ish feel restaurant that is no frills but perfectly comfortable and very clean. Service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. Price can't be beat.

“Drove from Phoenix for their chicken -”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

I have been a devotee of Versailles for 20+ years. I'm not sure how many souls were sold for their garlic lemon chicken recipe but it's that good. Succulent, flavourful, smothered in onions and that citrus jus! Oh.my.god. The fried plantains soaking in it - simply one of the best things I've ever eaten. Ever. I do like the Venice location best (they have several locations now), but that could be nostalgia as I always prefer the original. I haven't been to Cuba so can't confirm its authenticity, but can tell you, I was salivating every mile of highway between Phoenix and Los Angeles looking forward to it!

“Price, Chicken-Pork-Paella, Cuban Tastes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

This restaurant has a few satellites in the city. The one on Venice seems like the primary spot. Its lunch crowd includes studio workers and all sorts of customers who love the food. The waiters know the menu, and are efficient. My favorite dish is the garlic chicken, but there are many choices, and everything I've tried has been good.
Black beans, rice, garlic sauce, platinos, onions are always good.
The prices make this restaurant show up on best lists that highlight good food for low prices, but the food is just plain good.
Take out, eat in, always worthwhile. I've been coming here monthly since the '80s.
Tables are easy to get until dinner time when it can get busy. Parking is right outside and extremely convenient, right off Venice.
The restaurant celebrates Cuba, and their food does that best.
