I just can't believe we are all talking about the same hotel. Far from being the horrible place some previous users depicted, I found the Ritz Milner great: the location is just fine (just behind Figueroa St, 2 blocks from the Satple Center, 3 blocks from the convention Center, in the hearth of L.A business district) , the staff allright and eager to help you, and the room we got (obviously recently refurnished) was a pleasant surprise, especially after having read some appaling comments!
The complementary breakfast (in-house, not anymore at Denys as some first reviews said) is basic, on a -eat-as-much-as-you-like basis. What else? We got our suite for $130 a night during a peak, big meeting period at the C.C. , whereas all aother hotels within a walking distance from the show were at, at the very least, $200.
The only downside is that they charge you $2.00/person at the front desk to book a Super Shuttle pick up (that means $8 if you were a family of 4!), which is really mean to my opinion. Apart from that, I definitely will stay again at the Riz Milner, since it proved to be an excellent value for money!

This is a long way from being a luxurious hotel but for the price you really can’t complain. The staff are friendly, the beds comfortable and it’s well situated in the heart of Downtown LA.

The décor might be more to you grandma’s taste, the breakfast basic and, like previous reviews state, the plasterwork bumpy but does this matter when you’re simply looking for a cheap, comfortable place to stay?

My tip is cheat - stay at the Milner then live it large a few blocks down the street at the Standard Hotel’s posh rooftop bar. You’ll have more cash then to splash on the $12 gin and tonics.

  • Liked — The bargain price

I stayed here because it was one of the hotels associated with a conference I attended. I don't mind old places and don't need alot of room but this place really is a dump. The hallways floors are uneven, the bathroom tiles discolored, and the furniture is very cheap. The elevator down button didn't work on my floor (not just that it didn't light up, but it didn't call the elevator). The daytime front desk woman was sullen and indifferent. Not recommended for single women or the weak of heart. I couldn't use the phone for an 800 number without calling the front desk and having her "turn the line on", which she did with reluctance. There is a Holiday Inn very near; surely that would be a better bet.

As soon as I walked into the room I swear I heard the ghost of Bette Davis "WHAT A DUMP!"

Now don't get me wrong, I was not expecting the RITZ CARLTON but this place is BAD!!!!! I have stayed in Hostels that are nicer than this place.

Dirty carpets, Mattress/Boxed Springs from at least the 80's (But it did have clean sheets and no bed bugs-I checked), a bathroom the size of a pota-a-potty (and I am not exagerating-If you sat on the toillet you had to lean on the sink and put 1 foot in the bathtub) The candid photos on here must be of one of thier suites. I wish I had taken my camera so I could show everyone that I am not exagerating.

My advise: If this is the only hotel available within 50 miles, Expand your search to 100 miles.

I have had better accomodations while tent camping!!!!!
