We stayed at the Renaissance Hollywood on 9/5/05 as an overnight stop between San Diego and Las Vegas. Our goal was to get a quick taste of Hollywood and this location perfectly suited our needs!

As many have noted, the hotel is located within extremely close proximity to all Hollywood Boulevard attractions. Located in the Hollywood & Highland complex, it was well kept and felt extremely safe, with the open air mall, funky bowling facility, and plenty of restaurants to occupy your time in the evening when the world outside the complex gets a bit sketchy.

Valet service was lightening fast and pretty reasonable at $22, which was surprisingly cheap considering what we've paid in other metropolitan tourist areas. Front desk check in was quick and pleasant.

The room itself was a typical king hotel room setup with bath, bed, tv/armoire, and desk. We had a view of the city which was very nice both at night and during the day. The decor is sort of retro, reminiscent of 50s contemporary styling. The bathroom was roomy with plenty of towels and bath products available. Everything was very clean and in good shape with the exception of the bedspread and pillow shams, which seemed a bit worn (not a big deal as we just throw it all off the bed when we sleep anyway). All the public areas are clean and have wonderful artwork on display.

We had the breakfast buffet at Twist, the onsite restaurant and found it to have a good selection of quality hot & cold items, including cooked to order eggs and waffles. The service was top notch and we thought it was a pretty good value for $16 or so, even though we didn't eat a lot.

All in all, this was a great hotel providing us the perfect home base for our one day visit to Hollywood. It is a great option for anyone looking to stay in or tour the Hollywood Boulevard attractions, as well as other attractions reachable by Metro as the station is extremely close by.

This is a great hotel to stay in Los Angeles, really convenient location, lovely decor, great valet service etc.etc. as long as you can deal with the unbelievably offhand reception staff. My children and I were put in a smoking room when we'd asked for no smoking and they couldn't change us, nor could they change travellers cheques and were generally pretty rude. If you can get over that (which we did) it's a great hotel.

Everything about my stay at the Renaissance was pleasant. This place really lived up to it's rep. I had read all the good reviews and thought "Why not give it a try!". The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location couldn't have been better. All the brand name shops were adjacent to the hotel. It is was within walking distance to Mann's Chinese Theater, The Kodak Theater, Disney Soda Shop, Hollywood Walk of Fame, and many other popular attractions were all just steps away from the hotel. This place was worth every penny of my two nights stay. Oh yeah...I forgot to mention that heavenly bed. It was soooo comfortable I could have just stayed in bed all day watching movies. Our view was of the city skyline and believe you me it was something to see at night. The room decor was very modern contemporary-they did a fantastic job. I just made my reservations at the Renaissance for 4 nights- I was so impressed I plan on doing it again for my birthday in October. Happy travels.

After 8 days in DL and SD with a 2yr old, it was our time to relax. And relax we did! Valet was pricy ($22/day) but well worth it with a trunk load of luggage and an un-cooperating child.
Stayed in a suite (all 650 sq ft of it) overlooking the pool and HW blvd and haze. Ordered room service, dinner from Twist (NY (?) steak and salad - excellent , pasta - so-so). Reminded the SO not to touch the snack machine, opening/closing the "beverage" bar did not cause mystery charges.

Overall a very enjoyable experience, definitely the place to stay in HW.

This hotel has to be a strong contender if you are looking for a hotel in Los Angeles. My fiancee and I stayed here for only 2 days, but the hotel has such a great location that we felt that we saw most of the key attractions. The hotel looks out on to the chinese and kodak theatres and the walk of the stars. We could see the "Hollywood" sign on the hills from our hotel bedroom, and the Universal studios is only one metro stop away (the hotel is right next to the metro).
The location is central, yet absolutely peaceful and immaculately clean inside. Felt very safe here compared to some of the other areas and other hotels we saw on our visit. The room was clean and large, with internet access and complimentary coffee/tea.
This hotel is really in the heart of things in Hollywood/LA and I would stay here again if I was in LA.
