If you're visiting LA, this has to be the place to stay! The hotel is gorgeous, spacious rooms, a fabulous view of the Hollywood sign, comfy beds and well air-conditioned rooms.

The staff were helpful and friendly (apart from the lady in the shop, she tried to short-change me in the shop, and she wouldn't listen to me. Took my mum to persuade her otherwise!), especially in the restaurant. Lovely food there, but a bit pricey and the menu isn't exactly varied. Although, there are lovely places in the Hollywood and Highland complex, which you can get into through a short walkway in the hotel. Some evenings there are VERY LOUD bands playing different music, and there is a very relaxed and safe atmosphere there at night unlike Hollyowwd 3 years ago when we never ventured out of the hotel after 8pm!

The metro is about a 5 minute walk away from the hotel, and it's extremely cheap to get a train to Universal Studios, then it's just a short walk to a shuttle stop to get to the park. If you do decide to visit Universal, it may be worthwhile buying a queue-jumping ticket which allows you to get in the front of the line of every ride and show, and gives you reserved seats at all shows, although it may be worthwhile getting to shows a little while before it says to get there on the ticket, especially if it's a busy day. Although it's $50 more than a standard ticket, it's definately worth the money!!!

Chinese Mann's Theatre is a short walk away, as is the Walk of Fame and the Kodak theatre. If you wish to visit the latter, visit the leaflet stand at the hotel, as there is a discount voucher there. When we went, it was a quite day so we got to sit in the chairs that celebrities sat in, and we also got to stand on the stage!

This hotel is definately worth a visit once!!!

I spent the weekend there in June for my wife's birthday. We have lived in California all of our lives but never did the "Hollywood Thing". So I found a great deal on their website that included two nights and two day access to Universal studios. It also included breakfast each mornging and parking. It was a great deal.
We got to the hotel late and I asked if there was any room upgrade. They were able to bump us up to the deluxe room which was great. We didn't have a great view but that was ok. The room was big and had a nice sitting area. I loved the decor. IT was modern and very unique. The room was very clean and looked very new. The bed was really really comfortable with more than enough pillows. I could have slept all day.
I loved "Twist", breakfast was really good. You must try the smoothies. The enviornment is great for a weekend getaway. Lots of good places to eat nearby.
My only complaint was that I wanted to take advantage of the free shoe shine. I called multiple times and they kept promising someone would pick up my shoes but then never came. I complained about this and got free drinks instead.
Otherwise a great/hip hotel to spend the weekend at.

The Renaissance was great - fun décor, great view, great toiletries. Everyone at the hotel was very helpful with information. The location is wonderful just because you have easy access to everything. From what I saw of LA, it's not a walking town anyway so you may as well be close to the things you want to do. There are lots of food choices at Hollywood and Highland, Ryan Seacrest is right there (although we didn't get in as it was Ashley Simpson day). The pool area is great and we were able to see Ryan Seacrest filming promotional stuff in the courtyard from the 5th floor pool. Graumann's is right next door. Great view of the Hollywood sign. Loved the Warner Brothers tour (15 min. drive). Great hotel but glad to leave Hollywood after 2 days (traffic is a nightmare).

Stayed here for 2 nights 15th and 16th July. Got a very good deal booking directly with hotel over internet - the Universal 2 night package which included 2 two day passes to Universal, and breakfast for 2 in their restaurant - which was very good. Very modern hotel with large clean rooms. There was plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 kids. Large spotlessly clean bathroom, great view from 16th floor of the Hollywood sign. Good location next to Hollywood and Highland shopping and restaurant complex, we had a great meal at a restaurant called The Grill (I think). Easy access to Kodak theatre and Universal Studios. Metro is within a 2 minute walk and costs $1.25 each (please note that the machines only accept $1 and $5 bills). It takes about 5 minutes on the train. Shuttle bus at the other end takes another few minutes to Universal City Walk. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I spent four nights here recently and was incredibly impressed with the hotel. Funky and modern throughout it was a wonderful place to stay. It's right next door to the Kodak theatre shopping complex and the Graumanns Chinese Theatre. Rooms are all very well appointed and the higher up you are the better the view of the city and the Hollywood hills. The pool is also a massive plus especially with the warm weather of LA. It's a good place to do some star spotting, Avril Lavigne was there at the same time as us. The only problem is that without a car it was very difficult to get around LA. To get most places you will either have to walk or take several buses. However, the hotel was a lovely place to relax and take things easy and get a taste of Hollywood.
