“Cute hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

We weren't really at the hotel that much during our stay in LA, but the hotel was still very pleasant. I love that they have complimentary toiletries/accessories in case you forgot to bring them like toothpaste, toothbrushes, lint rollers, etc. The room was nice, comfortable, and quiet.

There's a roof top pool with a restaurant, but since we visited in April, the weather was still a little too chilly for us to take a dip. We went there at night though for some quick bites and drinks and it was very relaxed. Good thing they had outdoor heaters because I'm from NYC and I'm not used to the weather drastically dropping come night time!

As a top tier member of the Kimpton loyalty program, I love this brand. Just had a lackluster stay at the Wilshire. We were given a room upgrade which was nice but the sofa was stained and the bed linen smelled of mildew. If I were to use one word to describe the attitude of the customer service staff, it would be "condescending". The service at the hotel restaurant was simply awful. Our room wasn't properly cleaned, we were charged for an item we didn't take from the mini bar (and treated haughtily when pointing it out) had an issue with the valet, etc. If you get a deal on a discount site, perhaps this place is a value but at the price we paid it wasn't. There is no gym and the pool is purely decorative.

This hotel is an awesome option to the expensive Beverly Hills hotels. You're right down the street from the Beverly Hills city limits - but, you're paying a lot less than if you stay at the Four Seasons, Sofitel, Beverly Hills Hilton, etc. You can't beat the rates. The rooms are every bit as good as the Sofitel in Chicago/New York - very modern, extremely clean and well appointed. We really loved the bathroom - a large soaking tub, rain shower head, great water pressure, lots of hot water, high end shampoo/conditioner/soaps, fluffy towels and robes! The bathroom also has a powerful fan (rare for most hotels) and a night light. Everything you could want is in the room and bathroom. The desk chair is very comfortable - and the bed/linens are every bit as nice as in a Four Seasons, Ritz or Mandarin Oriental hotel. The lobby staff are very friendly and fun. The second floor complimentary coffee in the morning and wine in the evening is a nice touch! Don't miss the roof top deck - awesome for breakfast or a night time glass of wine with views of the hills around Beverly Hills. The pool is small - but, adequate for this type of boutique hotel. The vibe on the roof on the weekends is hip and fun without being crowded and stuffy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely will be back. The AAA rate included a discount and a $20/day food/drink credit - very nice! You won't be disappointed with this hotel - whether you are from out-of-town or local - a great location and a vey clean, friendly and comfortable boutique hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 5th floor - or, if you can afford it, a Penthouse room on the 6th floor. Nice...

Green Features: Average - you can re-use your towels, etc. just like most LA hotels.

Liked this hotel and the roof has great views and wonderful breakfasts. Their dinner however looks beautiful but the taste was disappointing for most of us at a large family dinner. The Roof can get very crowded at night.

Dear Traveler,

Thank you for choosing the Hotel Wilshire for your recent visit to LA! I'm so glad to hear that you loved the view from our rooftop and had the chance to enjoy a lovely breakfast up there. I'm so sorry to hear however that you found your dinner up there to be a bit disappointing. I will make sure we look into this further with the restaurant team and Chef. I do hope that in spite of this, you will give the hotel and restaurant another try on your next visit to LA. I urge you to contact me directly for reservations and we will be sure to take great care of you.

We had a family reunion here with about 17 people. The hotel was wonderful. The roof deck is wonderful (if sometimes crowded), breakfasts were great. They made a room available to us for our meetings, supplied great zebra/leopard robes that made for an hilarious group picture, and even gave us space to have one family member play his guitar for all of us. Justine was wonderful and it was an all around excellent experience. We have been doing this for more than 15 years and this was one of the best.

Dear Traveler,

Wow! What an amazing review! I love to hear that we played a part in creating one of your BEST family reunions in the impressive 15 years that you've been doing this! I was lucky enough to see that great photo of all of you in your leopard print robes...Classic! Hotel experiences should be all about making memories and that photo captures a great memory, that's for sure! I'm so glad to hear that the staff, especially Justine, made this stay extra special (she's a gem!). I'm not sure if you meet in a different place every year, but maybe the Hotel Wilshire could be a repeat host for this great tradition! If you need any assistance with booking future reservations, please feel free to reach out to Justine or me directly (my contact info is below).

Thanks so much for choosing the Hotel Wilshire...We hope to see ALL of you again!

All the best,

I stay at this hotel whenever I'm in LA and need to be centrally located. It's mid-Wilshire. Solid and consistent. Its a place to have a pause away from the drama and glam of LA. Pleasant staff. Great roof deck with wifi. Sometimes I sit up there for breakfast or between meetings and work. Nice dinner spot too. If you get the 2nd floor the rooms have mini outdoor space which is a perfect spot to have an early morning coffee. The neighborhood doesn't have much but the hotel has room service with the standard options and the Food is decent.

My family (of four) and I were in California for four nights, and we stayed at the kimpton. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, but the pool was small and disappointing for the kids. We did have dinner on the roof which was spectacular. Nice building, not great for kids.

Dear Traveler,

Thank you so much for picking the Hotel Wilshire for your recent family getaway. I'm glad to hear that the room was well suited to your needs. Our rooftop pool is definitely more of a dipping pool - the perfect place to escape the heat on a hot summer day. It is boutique in size, but the rooftop and views are just oh so picturesque! I am happy to hear that you enjoyed a great meal up there. If you need an LA hotel for another family trip (or just a getaway for two!), feel free to reach out to me directly. We would love to see you again...
