“Terrific Indian Food "Light ," very fresh vegetables and many great vegan Options”
This restaurant while technically in Los Angeles is actually in Encino, California not far from the 405 freeway on Ventura Boulevard. Easy access from the westside of LA .
First time here, we had a mock chicken dish that tasted exactly like chicken. We have returned many times had several dishes here that are standards for us Aloo Gobi , Bangen Barta and Saag Paneer(both cheese or mock cheese versions are good) when dining at an Indian restaurant.
At Streets of India, you can taste that the vegetables are fresh and another plus is that the dishes are not drenched in butter and oil. It is a family-run business and when we commented on the freshness of the vegetable they said that a couple times a week they bring in fresh vegetables from a friend who has a farm---the dishes were a testament to that.
There are menu items from different regions of India-- so there are more than just curries and tandoori items to try. Be sure to try their coconut chutney and their Indian Street food items for something less commonplace and delicious. Here you order at the counter and then they bring you the food as ready. This is a very clean but no frills restaurant, meaning no tablecloths and self service for silverware and water and in the winter it is a little chilly inside.
If you are coming for the flavors and quality of the food, then you won't care if the restaurant isn't "fancy."
