It should be called "Mas Bueno", not "Mas Malo!" This is one of the more popular haunts in the downtown area on the 7th street "Botega Louie" stretch. We finally had the opportunity to visit this "nouveau" Mexican cuisine restaurant over the July 4th weekend. Usually too crowded to get in on a weekend without reservations, we gave it a try early before the "mobs"showed up. We arrived to see happy faces and we were escorted downstairs into a charming, well appointed eating area that was clean, comfortable with a "techie" contemporary design and decor upgraded from an old jewelry store. The server and hostess were polite, efficient and "spot on." We ordered margaritas (house and the spicey cucumber) and had the eggless cheese chili relleno and the chicken tacos. Fantastic! Flavorful, unique, really outside the norm for innovative, perfectly spicey, balanced and absolutely delicious Mexican food. Loved it. The margaritas were a little above average, but the food was a real treat! We highly recommend that you arrive early or make that reservation. By far, the best Mexican food restaurant in Downtown LA, hands down! And we've eaten at most them!
