“Some Advice Before You Go, Great Venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

This is a great comedy club. It's in a small black box theatre, with proscenium seating, along with 4 rows on either side of stage. We sat on the side and had a fine view, but I would recommend sitting in the center if possible. The theatre doesn't open up until show time, so a line forms in front of the theatre. This part is a little frustrating, since there is very limited space. Definitely get there early, it's recommended to arrive 20 minutes early, but I'd say 30 to be sure to get better seats. Buy tickets online ahead of time, even if only by a few hours. Getting them at the door is a hassle.
Most of the shows are up and coming comedians, with some star appearances and local celebrities. Go online and there is a full schedule of shows. There are shows everyday at several times starting at 8 with a show starting every hour until midnight. Most shows are only $5, though some are free and occasionally a show is $10. When we went we saw the duo Swarm, who performed a show of continuous improv skits and were quite funny. The theatre offers a variety of shows, so it's easy to find one you'll enjoy.
The shows content is not family friendly. This is definitely something for a more mature audience. If in the area I would recommend seeing at least one show. The great thing about their schedule is there's a late night show every night. So if in town with nothing to do after a great day of sight-seeing and dinner, stop by for a show for a hilarious end to the day.

“went 2 nights in a row while in los angeles”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

My husband and I went to the UCB during our stay in Los Angeles for a few nights not expecting much. The reviews are amazing, but as with any comedy club, we were expecting a couple laughs here and there, but the UCB was different (in a good way) from what we were used to in Las Vegas. We went to the facebook show and hip hop penguins show, which were both $5 each, and laughed the entire time. Totally worth the trip. I'm sure we will be visiting again when in the area.

“Insiders comedy venue that's user-friendly for tourists.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

UCB is legendary in Hollywood for launching careers of writers, and comedic performers. If you want to experience sketch comedy like a local in Hollywood, skip the others and check out UCB. It's a smaller venue, but tickets are generally available online, and it's a guaranteed good time without the steep cover charges and drink minimums.

“Great way to see up and coming comedians”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Cheap & fun. The show was in 2 parts. We enjoyed the 1st part best which had 6 players doing a variety of sketches, the 2nd part was not so great due to gross factor. But they are all working out ideas so it was still pretty fun and all for $5.

“Comedy, Comedy, Comedy”

For the price($5) this is the place to go. Went twice and saw different comedians each time. Very small theater which makes it even more fun. Bring in your own beverages.
